There is no excuse for using words incorrectly, just because everyone else does.

Everyone's usage defines the language. You refuse to use the language.
ergo, proof you aren't interested in communication.

Even lawyers use a dictionary https://legal.thomsonreuters.com/en/products/law-books/blacks-law-dictionary even if it isn't OED.

“When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’

’The question is,’ said Alice, ‘whether you can make words mean so many different things.’

’The question is,’ said Humpty Dumpty, ‘which is to be master — that’s all.”

Glory.
Got a very nice surprise today.
Logged into e-mail to see if any response from the council regarding the energy rebate. Nope.
However, there was one from DWP.
As now in receipt of state pension will automatically receive the Winter Fuel Payment with the extra £300 this year.
Nice.

Grumble.
In all dealings with the council over the years, have always received an auto reply to any e-mail sent.
Not in this case (to date).
Makes me wonder as to what is going on.
Checking on several forums, see that some DD payers still have received it.
TBH, it's a total balls up start to finish.

]You can't just change the meaning of words every 5 minutes.
What proof are you offering the OED changes every 5 minutes?

"Good friends" have their place, but can do far more damage than one could imagine.
Sadly I've seen three people I worked with who suffered PTSD result of totally different triggers. All three rejected professional help, and relied on their extensive network of long established friends. One went down the worm hole of drugs because "friends" said "try this", and they did, and then moved on to harder drugs. The second can now barely venture beyond their front door, because a long standing friend told them that the best thing to do was stay inside and "watch the telly", the third ended up attempting suicide several times before being sectioned and is now on the long road back to some form of "normality" (whatever that may be).

Weird friends? - hindsight says yes, but many of them had been around the person concerned for much of their lives, thus the person concerned had no cause to suspect, or expect, to be led into dark places. Indeed did "onlookers", such as myself, couldn't see anything "wrong" with the friends in the early days & weeks.
Your final comment shows how ignorant you of PTSD. The triggers are many and varied, indeed in some cases it can be an common event - you would be horrified if you knew how many medical professionals suffer from it (even those not involved in trauma or "expected end of life" lines of work).

People are getting too sensitive. If you think modern "traumas" are anything like a war....

Tell that to those I worked with who were raped on multiple occasions some more than once a week over a period of years. As Rob says, you know nothing about PTSD and how it affects people. I worked with it almost every shift for over 25 years which gives me rather more insight than you display. I understand the temptation to have an opinion on everything and know I succumb to it sometimes. but in this case your opinion is just plain wrong. I have the experience of both studying the condition and working with those affected by it to back that up.

You've obviously never heard of "coercive control" then have you.

Maybe you should have worked harder.
What planet are you living on?
As for your "friend/s" comments, you do not know what you're talking.
Had many good friends in the day, YET none of them could help me.
Sitting on the front of a train hitting a person is just a teddy bear's picnic to you then as no PTSD involved? TBH, heard much B/S over the years but asinine B/S is a rarity...
...until this thread is seen.
Sheesh.

Oh please, stop feeding the anarchistic, contrarian troll.
The troll is only here to annoy, no other reasons.
Hijacking threads all over the place.

LOL.
I need some chuckles to see me through a dry spell.
Once that "spare" dosh hits the bank, I'll be wetting my whistle. :-)
