David made a PR about 3 hours ago: Web: if define('DARK_MODE', true) in project.inc, support dark mode #3762 There's development work going on to support 'dark mode' on Mac and Android, both for the Manager and the website. David may have been testing that. If so, I missed it - it's displaying as normal here now. |

Hehe, here's a better idea since the West already have outsourced so much to China. Outsource the social distancing behavioural science to China. They know exactly how to deal with an unruly population from the West.. There's plenty of avilable airplanes, to fly the unruly Westerners to already functioning re-education camps in China. They can even be forced to pay for their "vacation" in China. Problem solved, all will be well. |

I normally don't advertise good stuff, but damn I'm hooked. Over the past week I've bought several Displates, which are a sort of posters from metal that you stick to the wall with a magnet. So far I got two of Blazing Saddles, one of Westworld, one of Alyx and just bought one of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the green trickling numbers of the Matrix. All these look quite slick. |

Grumble: Why do some people not do any research at all before installing and running BOINC. My point is that an email or SMS to let me know that jobs had been downloaded would have been, if nothing else, polite and encouraging. |

Easy desk fan: I took one of the AMD Ryzen fans I have and put it on the fan splitter with Molex connector, put it in the wall outlet. Have to remember to turn the fan around, as it blows on the heat sink, but then at 12V it gives a nice cool breeze during these hot days gaming. :) |

Grumble: Why do some people not do any research at all before installing and running BOINC. The average IQ is 100. But perhaps https://fee.org/articles/did-public-schools-really-improve-american-literacy/ According to a recent study conducted by the U.S. Department of Education, 32 million of American adults are illiterate, 21 percent read below a 5th grade level, and 19 percent of high school graduates are functionally illiterate, which means they can’t read well enough to manage daily living and perform tasks required by many jobs. |

Doesn't stop them installing BOINC attaching to a project and then complaining that no one sent them an email they wouldn't be able to read. |

Grumble: Why do some people not do any research at all before installing and running BOINC. That needs a definition of illiterate, because if the exam is done to the curve then 16% would be expected to get a D or lower. 16% of the adult population is ~33 million. Only 2.1% or 4.4 million should be classified in the failing group. |

Do you want say Pilots or Doctors to be graded on a curve? Pass Fail seems to be indicated. Don't know about pilots but certainly here in UK, both doctors and nurses are graded on a curve. However, for nurses and I assume doctors, there are practical assessments which though graded on a curve, if the practitioner is unsafe mean an automatic fail. When doing my degree in child and adolescent mental health nursing 40% was the pass mark. While there really is no logical reason that 50% should be the pass mark it is what was wired into my brain during school and while common on degree courses, 40% for a pass just feels wrong! |
