I hadn't run BOINC in over a year... and so am a bit rusty at the controls.
I'm running a bit of Einstein on the system in my living room, to see if its heat output can warm my room easier than the electric heater that I have. So I have a full buffer, and tried to set No New Tasks, but forgot where to set that. 😂😂

Found it.
Only took about 20 minutes.
Oy veh.

lol

I have a 12 core 3900X, was first running at 50% cores, then later upped to 75%.
6 cores = 84C
9 cores = 76C

Uh right... And here's the problem, feeling around the case, I don't feel heat. Even opened the door, felt directly in front of the CPU fan, don't feel heat. So that's not warming my room much.

So I enabled tasks on the AMD GPU. Which runs at 54C.
This isn't helping 😂😂

Wrong project probably.

PrimeGrid will definitely give you heat on CPU & GPU if you want. Any of the LLR on CPU or GFN on GPU tasks would definitely produce a fair amount of heat.

Just don't overdo the number of concurrent threads and/or tasks, don't want you to fry the CPU.

Yeah, you've been doing that in several threads now and I'm a bit done with it. Please stop it.

More fun news from the UK.
From https://x.com/TheMekon_Venus/status/1861077671448289766
In the Uk we had a Prank TV show called ‘beadles about’in the 80’s. Today.. I’d have believed this could have been a prank setup.. however it was real.

Thames water sent goons to our homes now unannounced. With threats of sky high bills and £800+ fines for non compliance.

These two guys turned off our water.. and started opening up the ground on our private development. They said they were installing a water metre. And if I didn’t comply Thames water would put me on their highest tariff.. and charge me huge fines. I had no letter about this. Zero informed consent.

When I called Thames water a woman said.. I refused the metre., and it was an £800 bill for this.

To quote the goons that turned up.. “Thames water have no idea.. their left hand doesn’t know what their right hand is doing”.. no one gets letters.

They argued with me for about 20mins. We asked them to prove they were from Thames water.. and it was refused. Lots of threats of high bills and costs. Eventually they left.

We are not going to some completely unannounced people change our infrastructure without consultation or proof of identity, or implications of such a change.

This was complete bullying on an institutional level from a utility company.

The guys were so entitled.. they tried to say that my property was public., and they could do what they wanted. And then just got insulting by the time they left.

I videoed the entire thing.. and offered it to Thames water to view the gross misconduct. They kept quoting data protection act as a reason not interested. It annoys me when companies just say that word to justify any action. When I asked to explain.. it was clear the person was just reading from a script and had no idea.

3 hours on the phone later.. it got worse.

The entire day today has been constant threats of fines and highest tariffs.. despite a little investigation shows we’re already on the highest tariffs.

This way of working seemed totally normal to the goons that turned up.

So I guess I’m not the only person out in this position.

Apparently there is some law about this.. but not until 2030. Not the urgency they were suggesting. I wonder if they are paid per installation., hence the bully boy tactics.

These things usually come down to money. Sadly.

Grumble.
Been offline for 9 days, & it proves my mantre more effctive.
Too much trust & reliance in technology.
Trying to contact Virgin via mobile is difficult to say the least. especially using their 08 number.
Spoke to a nieghbour who is also a Virgin customer who went to their website managed to get a different number.
Wrote it down & asked me to let him know the outcome as he understood the issue regarding landline & VoIP.

I have to admit I was very surprised as no issues what so ever.
No human contact, all automatic.
After confirming that mobile was from my postcode, ran a basic test & stated I can either hold or call back later.
I held.

Thank you for holding, we're just going to run some tests.
A few minutes later. there seems to be an issue with your device.
We've sent a link to your mobile. Please use it to book an engineer.
Did so & went for earliest possible slot.

2 issues. 1st, the cable from the router to the junction box was corroed at the juncion box.
2nd, the router itself was not fully configured by the engineer that installed when Virgin replaced their cable to Cat6.
Replaced router, set it up correctly & the differnce has been very noticable.
