Seti forums getting slow again. |

After a week of hair pulling, get 3 wow's in one norning. 1st glory. In my haste to complete the Ryzen build I rushed the installation of 2 drives. 1st one went okay but the 2nd I damaged the sata power connector so carried on & added a 3rd carefully. Installed Windows 11 on 1 & linux on the other. This morning decided to use an old trick used on the old IDE drives, using 2 flat head screwdrivers attempted to strainghen the pins & align them. Success. To prevent any future connection issues with that drive used a molex to dual sata connector & fed it through the bay. 2nd glory. Took the final reading for the gas 6 monthly spreadsheet. We have used more gas this Winter that last Winter. But comparing both, it is £63 less - Nice. 3rd glory. After reading meter, postman delivered mail for everyone. Taking ours indoors, knew straight away what it was. The Council Tax bill for 2024-25. WTH? 2 weeks early? Normally issued on 15th March most years & sent out during the 1st week of April. This year, issued on 8th & received this morning? Have they got that efficient or just crying over shortage of funds? Looking at our liability for the year, it is 0. Also showing a credit of £55.07 from last year. Definitely needs a phone call Monday, don't won't those muppets chasing us up after giving us 10 years of grief. Oh & to paraphrase Mr Kipling, seti boards are... ...Exceedingly slow. Edited for spelling errors. |

Booze really scrambles the brain. As I arrive tonight at my favorite restaurant / alehouse I witness a hit and run on a poor innocent parked truck in the city parking lot. Park, wander in, announce it, truck owner cusses, and everyone in the place knows the old lady who just left and did the deed. But she wasn't done with just hitting the truck, I didn't see this part but a couple of other people did from the dive bar next door where an angry bollard and planter got in the way of her destruction. She drove off bumper hanging from her car. If she had had the sense to stop and hand over insurance info, but no. So now two counts of hit and run, the truck and the city bollard and likely two counts of failure to report an accident, she has a couple days left to report still. Apparently she left mad that the bar tender had cut her off. |

OH and myself have a joint email with phone coop, our ISP who have recently decided that they can't afford to support email anymore so customers will have to migrate to someone else looking after this side of things. (mail.coop is the address of the people providing the service.) Sadly, I suspect that this is the first migration of the type that they have done and they are floundering. Joint email still works but individual one of other half, now only working with webmail. Emails sent from Thunderbird bounce except when going to a phonecoop.coop email address. Glad my own individual email address is not with phone coop! |

Glory x2 I love small retailers. Been annoyed for some time with software companies no longer providing software on disk with them opting for online downloading. Finding out that my Office 2010 will no longer install on Win 10/11. Didn't fancy the high cost of their last version before they switched to Office 365 & annua/monthly subscription. Got a good deal for office 2021 (full package), unfortunately it was a download from M$. Expecting to download an iso file, found an img file instead. Unable to open. but needed access my files so as suggested tried Openoffice. Again as suggested tried Libra Office. Much better but... ..Excel has functions that are different to those packages Retailer stuck with it & looked into the issue. Got that 1 sorted, Product key would not work. Retailer looked into it & apologised. Employee sent wrong package key. New key sent this mornin g. Ah Bisto. With the issues with M$ & Windows 10/11 installation issue & unable to access media drives, they'been shut down for a month already. The saving on electricty shook me, so once access to media regained, must learn to shut them down when not in use. Over a calender month, the saving equates to £30 a month. Ah Bisto. |

Glory: Just noticed that when as moderator I move posts to a more appropriate part of the CPDN board to make a thread easier to read, the section of the forum I have moved them to updates to the time of the last of those posts. Probably has always done this and I haven't noticed before. |

Grumble: Leicester Forrest East services, GridServe chargers all out of action. Three miles off motorway a junction or so down fuuse chargers lie about charging speed. Instead of 22KWH charger was more like 7.5 the same as a home charging setup. Took over an hour to charge enough to get to next rapid charger. There Instavolt did the job. Ten minutes to get enough charge for the remaining distance home with over 30 miles worth of charge remaining. I can see why so many people say charging infrastructure is not fit for purpose yet. #betterplanningnexttime. |

I think 411 packages not to upgrade is a new record for me.Now up to 500 not to upgrade on noble. I won't force them as I don't know enough to work out what might break! |

Or just install Noble alongside your existing installation instead of upgrading in place. I haven't broken an existing upgrade in place so far. Knocking on wood now. Ha ha LOL. I"ve even managed to snag two required dependencies from Noble that I needed to upgrade to the latest 6.9.0-rc kernels from the Mainline PPA in my Ubuntu 23.10 installations without breaking anything. A complete kludge fix that has worked out. |

Or just install Noble alongside your existing installation instead of upgrading in place. This is a clean install in a VM from about three weeks ago. At the moment waiting for unattended upgrade to release the cache lock. |

And about 250 of the held back packages just got updated this morning. Something to do with the impending release of 24.04? |

The estimated time of completion column if enabled in the latest BOINC manager is interesting to say the least. On one task, the estimated time of completion has already passed and yet it keeps getting earlier! I might be un-enabling it if I start seeing that behaviour on a regular basis! |

On one task, the estimated time of completion has already passed and yet it keeps getting earlier! I have seen same "feature" in Efmer's BOINC tasks monitoring program on occasion. I don't think BOINC can properly compute this type of issue. Maybe open a ticket in Git to have the developers look at it. |
