Grumble: I am not doubting it but I am struggling to understand the physics of the radiators heating up more quickly. I get that the dehumidifier will provide more heat than the electricity used because the specific heat of condensation is released to the room so you can work that out once you know the volume of water produced over time. |

I don't know either, its just what has been observed over time. Normally, the radiators warmed up within a minute or two but it took approx.12-15 minutes for the whole radiator to heat up. Over the course of this week, the radiators completely warmed up in 8 minutes. As for the tank, it auto shut down while asleep, but looking at the tank before emptying, there was a small amount of space between the top of the tank & the top of the water level, so I would say just under 6.5 days to fill. As for the cost, I wasn't far off with my calculations. I worked it out as £0.4033 per day & it's been £0.41 per day. As for the heating, we normally used to have it on for 3-4 hours an evening. That is now down to 2.5-3 hours. So for costing, think it's swings & roundabouts. Gas is more expensive though. Personally, think it's a small price to pay for improved health. |

Think of this, a radiator immersed in water vs a radiator in a vacuum. Now 100% humidity isn't quite a pool of water but it is to the point there is liquid water, fog. 0% humidity isn't a true vacuum but illustrative. The hunk of metal (radiator) heats faster when it isn't throwing heat into water. But how fast the metal gets hot may not be indicative of how fast a human perceives it to be warm in the room. Think of getting out of the shower and then after you have dried off. |

Grumble: Lost a testing branch task when power went out last night. On resumption it was cycling between 50.375 up to 50.600% at which point it would drop back to 50.375%. Crashed on stopping BOINC and restarting. Times of trickle up files at 18 minute intervals suggest it was the power outage to blame as under fifteen minutes between last trickle and the time local Faceache suggests power went down. |

I ran a couple from there yesterday. They were uploading a 2.5 MB file about every 5 minutes. If your bored band was taking 18 minutes, that'll be a big backlog. |

Do what the message states. Quit Firefox so the snap can update. Look in your System Monitor and kill the instance that is still running. If you don't see any instance there then just stop Firefox through snap. sudo snap info firefox sudo snap stop firefox sudo snap refresh sudo snap info firefox sudo start firefox If you still get the message try: sudo snap stop firefox sudo snap disable firefox sudo snap refresh sudo snap enable firefox sudo snap info firefox sudo snap start firefox |

Wonder if any BOINC projects could benefit from this? Unmodified NVIDIA CUDA apps can now run on AMD GPUs thanks to ZLUDA |

Probably not useful. Requires Boinc apps to be PTX or run-time compiled. AFAIK, all Boinc apps are already full binary blobs. |

Aargh, what is it with me & gpus. :-( Plugging in a usb 2 bay enclsure Tuesday night & screen flashed off then got the dreaded blue dialogue box - no signal then it changed to - cable not connected. Checked cables, no issues, yet the problem persisted. Switched monitor off & on again, no change. Hit reset button, no loy so hit power off button, no joy, neither worked so switched off from psu & rebooted. Got into bios & couldn't see any issues so let it continue booting up. Windows loaded up then boom, same problems, thinking Windows itself corrupted so restored from backup. Fortunately last full backup was last Friday (any work done since then actually stored on separate drives. Restore was successful but same problem so shut down for the night. Spent most of the morning yesterday pulling the gpu out & replacing ("borrowed" the GT1030 for the Ryzen). I'd forgotten how heavy a Coolermaster R1000 case was fully populated. For the past several months, experienced weird bootup issues as well as some display issues, just niggling issues, no real problems. After installing device driver, all those issues disappeared. No more 2gb gpu's for me. Min is going to be 4gb. Managed to order another of the same GT1030's & was surprised to find it at the same price 7 months on rather than increased like other cards. |

I stumbled over yet another interesting Youtube channel. Its description: "Cambrian Chronicles is the number one Welsh and Brythonic history YouTube channel" https://www.youtube.com/@CambrianChronicles |

Glory. Ryzen rig up & running. Grumble. Win 7 rig turned out to be M/B issues, so ending up running laptop to grab all the log in info for various sites. No problem. Shutting it down Sat night, it came up with installing updates before shutting down. Switching on Sun... Crap on a stick, 23H2 is nothing but trouble, anytime I clicked on anything, up popped a browser page wiith either MS Edge/Brave help centers. No I don't want to ask Leo. No I don't want Co-pilot. . Grumble 2. Never had any issues in the past using KVM's but now... Can't get a 2 PC HDMI/USB switch working. |

Glory & Grumble at the same time. Glory. Able to run either Linux or Windows on new rig. Nice. Grumble. Boinc shows O/S as Windows 10 Pro 22H2 but I installed Windows 11. Is this normal for Boinc? |

No. I have a: Microsoft Windows 11The code for detecting that was added in July 2021, so you probably need to be running something like BOINC v7.16.20 or later. The machine I quoted is running v7.24.1 |

Thanks Richard. Oops, I posted the reply without checking. That's the version installed & running. |

It's not a Boinc issue but Microsoft 1. The MS package states: Win 11 Pro 64 bit Eng Intl 1 pk DVD Version 22H2 Bulid Date 04/24/23. Purchased all the Ryzen compnents & Win 11 lJuly 2023. Actual disk states Windows 11 Pro 64 bit Full Version. Also it activated no issues. Reched out to the MS community yesterday morning but so far no answers. 2.5 days since running Boinc on Win lt looks like surpassing Linux (crunching same project). I suppose that's all down to the project. Some crunch better on Linux & vice versa. |

Grumble: First flagged as an issue at least ten years ago. Resuming Ubuntu24.04 in VB after saving machine state. Time is wrong on resuming which sudo apt-update doesn't like. Installing ntp fixed this but I would have hoped there could have been an "out of the box" solution to this by now. |
