Grumble: Jasmine support closed till 3rd Jan. This means no uploads of OIFS work to CPDN. tasks lasting on average about 10 hours and about 1.6GB of uploads/task. There are already users with over 100GB of data waiting to be uploaded. I have a modest 20+GB waiting to go.

Neighbours......

After keeping the whole street up with their "music" and loud conversation (shouted as loud as possible), then their fireworks for what felt like an our today (long after sunrise) we had the chorus of the large white telephone and much groaning and associated smells which are escaping their house as sometime last night the loo windows got smashed out, or maybe someone suffered a really violent decompression of the bowels?

What's the point of fireworks in daylight? (no, don't ask them - I doubt the answer would be either polite or intelligible)

We had firework free zones, whole cities, where everyone was firing fireworks and blowing up their explosives. No police to be seen, a mayor even said "the smoking ban also took several years before people listened". With such an attitude we'll be firework free in 20 years.

Despite the one dead, many wounded, and large amounts of damage done, it was yet again called a "quiet New Year". Yeah.

At least the weather is nice. We already had the warmest 1st of January ever, with 16.6C at 1am.

Because mother nature decided to drop significant quantities of water upon us last night there was not nearly as much lead rain as on previous new years.

Happy New Year. Let's hope 2023 will be a better year than the years 2020-2022.

There's something I've never heard of before. In case you wonder why the fireworks were cancelled last night in Scarborough: https://twitter.com/PastorAlexLove/status/1609334723259539456

Grumble.
Must of seriously p'ed off my energy provider.
Over the summer kept getting numerous calls from them offering their different services & all from different offices.
Ended up blocking them.
Now the fun begins.
Over the past week, kept getting voicemail messages.
"This Call is nothing to worry about. We will call again at a later time.
We're calling regarding the benefits of switching energy providers".

They're either dumb or...
...everyone is aware that there is no point in switching at the moment due to the current market situation.

My Kaspersky antivirus subscription ran out and I wasn't in the mood to go search for a cheap 2 year replacement again, so this time I thought of trying out Windows Defender. Which works fine so far. But for that every time it updates its definition files it installs the Edge browser icon on my desktop. So each day I have to throw that thing away into the bin. Why must I endure this terror?

Remember with Micro$haft you only rent the cyborg OS. They control what's going to be installed & advertised, etc.

Haven't endured that terror since I defenestrated in 2000. (Looking back on records, I realise I didn't actually start with Linux then but ran OS2Warp4 for a few years before finally switching.

Mega Grumble.
This came this morning, p***** me off big time...

...as it has 3 glaring errors.

1: Charges from last bill should read £182.75
2: Payments received should read £320
3: Bill amount should read £3.18

To save any hassle, paid the bill with another excess which should cover the next bill in summer & the missing £184 award should near enough cover next winters bill.
Made a cuppa then called their help desk. Oh what "fun"
The lovely girl on the other end actually said that she could not answer those quieries so handed me over to a supervisor.
It amazed me in the transport industry & still does to this day.
How does a (redacted) (redacted) (redacted) get to a supervisory/manager position? (I do know but there is no way in hell I ever did it or even contemplate it).
I could not stop laughing at him (that p***** him off) when he said they had no record of the $184 award made on 1/12/22 & could I e-mail them a copy.
Said okay & ended the call.

You gotta love BP's.
