And so now the utility wants to pay us for reducing usage and lowing demand... interesting !Our utility is not part of the scheme but then given we haven't gone above 3KWH a day this year yet and most days under 1, I am not sure we would get a lot from any reductions we could make. |

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-63825860 And in this case the company is correct... frivolous. Personal opinion home made is better and if you are in that big of a hurry your life values are off. |

Sarcastic grumble. Logged onto bank earlier & find an extra payment - XB. I know most of the bank codes the DWP use but this one? The taxpayer funds their Xmas party merriment so they "graciously" give us a £10 Xmas Bonus. |

And have done every year since 1972 - so this is the 50th anniversary. The amount has never changed. As an indicator of how much prices have changed, I moved to Yorkshire in 1974 - and was amused to find that there had clearly been an antediluvian unit of Yorkshire currency, namely one-sixth of a pound. Rounded to 17p after decimalisation, one 'Yorkie' would buy you one pint of beer, or one portion of fish'n'chips. Tonight's pint cost me £3.95, and the (good) local chippy is charging £6. |

Grumble: "We are experiencing a higher than expected number of calls at the moment..." Given that message never changes whatever time of day or whatever day of the week it is, why the $&*^^$£ have they not changed their expectations? |

Grumble: "We are experiencing a higher than expected number of calls at the moment..." Don't get your hopes up that they will ever change their message. Just about anywhere you call in the states that uses an automatic answer svc (technically called an 'IVR') ... have this disclaimer. They would prefer you press a specific key to leave them a message so they can return your call at their convenience. If I call somewhere, I don't want to talk to a machine. I want a living, breathing, blue blooded person that speaks, reads & writes English as their primary language, not some variation of pidgin engrish. |

Yes, Blue blooded. Blood is a purpleish-blue color until it comes in contact with oxygen. |

Grumble: "We are experiencing a higher than expected number of calls at the moment..." Their expectation is ZERO calls. Any more and it is a failure. |

Grumble: "We are experiencing a higher than expected number of calls at the moment..."Here in Holland the message adds "than you are used to from us". Could be worse. The app from my electricity and gas service provider has a queue these days, where you can wait up to ten minutes before you can check your usage numbers. The queue number counts down from generally an arbitrary number in the 3,000s, but that always leaves me wondering how Seti did multiple tens of thousands of contacts per second on a shoestring budget, where this multi million company can't even allow ten people per second to check their usage values.... |

The person that wound the clockwork orange has left the building to get their nails/hair/teeth looked at, and nobody else has the key. |

For a minute or two of "oh, they've got it worse than we do", here's the global energy prices by country in 2022. Guess who's at nr. 1 for Natural Gas with the highest prices? |

Yes, well. Here's the stupid thing. We have a lot of gas still available to us under the North of our country, but because it's causing earthquakes and damage to the people living there, there is a maximum per year what can be pumped up. All that gas that we're pumping up now is going to.... Germany. |

Just thankful that the government here isn't taxing the wood I collected courtesy of Storm Eunice which is currently providing 90%+ of our space heating and all of our water heating. |
