"Why are you doing that?" "Because the regulations say so." "Do you know why it has to be done like that?" "No idea."
At least they recognize Dunning-Kruger before they go down that rabbit hole.

Or, "I the Great Peter didn't write the regulation, therefore it is crap and wrong."

I've yet to meet a person who has violated Einstein's regulation not to exceed the speed of light. I also have met very few who have any clue why that regulation exists.

It's a shame such a potentially useful resource is blocked by "security rules".
Unlike the UK & French (and probably a whole lot more countries) who have made such information open to the public.

the information is available to the public. The link worked for me.

I understand that much of relativity and the maths involved. Understanding why is another thing altogether. I could try complaining to the designer but don't think I would get very far.

Oh how glad I was that someone else was paying the electricity bill. The gas bill must have ben very small as I never used the gas fired furnace that provided the whole house heating.

24 hours later, balcony shade just reached 37.6C
Yesterday's highest was 35.2C at 5pm. Let's see if we reach 40C today.

It was very still in Yorkshire this morning - no breeze at all to alleviate the hot, hazy, sunlight - it got you from every side. But there have been brief puffs of wind this afternoon - definitely gearing up for something.

"All trains between London Euston and Milton Keynes have been suspended because of a fire at the side of the line.
It was caused by 25,000 volt overhead electric cables coming down in Harrow."

"As predicted the extreme temperatures have impacted the overhead cables on the west coast main line and all trains have had to be stopped at Harrow in north London."

How does heat make cables fall down?

Metal expands when it heats up and the cables sag,

I am sure you have seen the weights that tension the cables. There is only so much they can take up before the weights hit the ground. After that the cables sag. A certain amount of that they can take though trains need to go slower to avoid pulling the wires down. After that certain point, the sag makes running trains impossible.

You can't die of heat exhaustion if you can take a cool shower.
There are many with underlying health conditions that are affected. Some drugs affect the body's ability to sweat. The very young and very old will in some cases not recognise the need to cool down until it is too late.

And of course, some on the continent are dying because of forest fires, either directly or because of smoke inhalation.
