Whoah! Only £67 a month! Don't you run Boinc?Costs Currently stands at £70.57 a month. Yes I do, but just the one rig. The days of running 16/20 rigs are well & truly over. As for North Wales police, you wouldn't be thinking of Richard Brunstrom by any chance? He often made headlines, mostly for the wrong reasons & his wife was a real piece of work. Edit. Just found this on the Which Consumer Rights page. Do I have to accept a smart meter? If your energy company has contacted you to change to a smart meter because your current meter needs replacing, it could be a safety hazard not to. But if you really don't want a smart meter, tell your supplier. |

No, if you carried on reading the link you provided, you would see why.I can't see anything in that article saying an unsafe meter must be replaced whether you want to or not. Be aware that if your energy company has contacted you to change your energy meter to a smart meter because your current meter needs replacing (ie it's too old), then you should get it replaced as it could be a safety hazard not to.They only have to check the building details & will find that it is owned by a housing association. I'm screwed & these bozos are very strict regarding H&S, so much they put the gestapo to shame. That which link went on to state that one must inform the supplier that they don't want a smart meter.. One can be installed & dumbed down & used manually (I take that to mean same as now - stick key/card in when required). I so love it when people fail to use the Mk 1 computer. Think Which failed to notice that regarding pre-payment meters - smart or dumb. :-) |

Grumble. Getting seriously worried I may be turning into Victor Meldrew. :-( While back & forth here yesterday afternoon, landline rang at 16:44 Dealt with it "pleasantly". Thought it a scam at 1st but with the info he came out with, realised it's legit, still got rid of PDQ. Called Housing Association got off the phone just 10 minutes ago. Asked if IFF Research was genuinely doing surveys on their behalf. Didn't know so got put on hold while she called her team leader. Silly girl did not realise while doing that she took me off hold so heard both sides of the conversation. Team leader did not know so got manager involved. Heard some key tapping............yes, they are. Good, thank you. By the way, we don;t have an e-mail address for you. That key tapping was her e-mailing the manager, I heard the "ding". You know the "you got mail" one. I burst out laughing at her question. Got asked if I'm okay? Yes, in answer to my e-mail I replied, why don't you have it. Her reply was that I never provided it. Burst out laughing again, then told her I have an e-mail trail going back a decade. Oh someone must have deleted it. Got to giver her credit. I asked if she knew what a Mk1 computer was. She does. :-) |

Ah good so still sane. For how much longer I wonder. Practically all relevant organisations get you to confirm your identity when you call. They don't take too kindly when you do the same to them. On that call it was mentioned, that my attitude was "somewhat" hostile regarding the survey caller. WOW, nary a profanity in sight or raised voice, in fact I was a model of perfection.... ...well, somewhat. :-) |

I used to love being with NTLWorld. They had a series of Star & Hash codes. Whenever anybody called me withholding their number got thiis automatically: This number does not accept withheld calls. Please unblock number & try again. Once in a blue moon, got an irate caller who had to recall. Said caller never called a 3rd time. :-) |

On one of my virtual phone numbers only originaton numbers from outside the USA are not ID'ed. Then it will have a "out of country calling" indicator along with the state side spoofed phone number. |

When I have fun time I'll sometimes answer with a "yo" which wakes up their system to connect. "Hi I'm Suzie Q, how are you doing today?" "The usual, mean, rotten, cruel and nasty." <click> <dial tone> |
