But 55mph on the motorway really annoys lorry drivers.Very much doubt that.. LGV drivers more than likely. |

He must have been feeling generous that day. You are very lucky that at the next stop (scheduled or otherwise) you weren't joined by a couple of the BTP how would cuff you and cart you off the enjoy their "hospitality" prior to making a staring role in the Sheriff's court the next day. You committed at least two offences, one unwittingly, and the other by intent. The unwittingly one is boarding and travelling on a train without a valid ticket for the journey being undertaken, not too bad, but still the excess fare (which can be as much as the standard fare for the whole of the train's journey) plus up to £1000. The second is the assault on a member of the train staff (verbally abusing a member of the railway's staff is, in law, an assault), which depending on the evidence available and the severity of the assault can be a fine up to period of incarceration in one of Her Majesty's Bed and Breakfast facilities. |

Correct but there is another side to that coin. Something similar happened to me (with a BIG difference). Waited at P'boro station for my regular train (for that week due to shift work). Unfortunately, the system was up the creek that day. Train arrived 09:50 (close to 110m late). Conductor wanted me to pay an excess due to: 1: it was NOT the scheduled train (on timetable as a very earlier train). 2: MY off peak ticket was invalid. My response was F.O. (Not nice I know but I've always hated jobsworths). Got removed from train at Huntingdon by 2 very irate BTP who couldn't understand why I couldn't stop laughing. Got resolved, coppers not very happy. Boss told me to go home but to put in a memo about the incident next day. Had a lovely day off. Conductor was in the wrong. 1: Breakdown of transport rule came into play. 2: It was NOT an off peak ticket but a priv season ticket (back on the railway at that time BUT not as train crew). :-) Still LMFAO to this day over that incident. |

I mean the full size 50 tonne ones. Hysterical laughter at this end.... The largest un-permitted vehicle allowed is 44tonnes, and they are limited to 56mph (or is it 52? - Sirius will be along soon to put me right). Above 44tonnes various levels of permit are required along with reduced maximum speeds, and the requirements for escort vehicles under defined loads etc.. You really are demonstrating how little you know about the law in the UK. |

I believe that is down to the transport company itself. Normally on motorways it is a max speed of 60 mph. Single/dual carriageways 50 mph. Returning to my previous post, called a retired former colleague of mine. Back then, staff passes & privilege cards were marked "dependent" if family member of staff. When showing a priv ticket, one also had to show the corresponding priv card. That should have clued up the jobsworth pdq, it did not, so.... Edited to correct spelling. |

Thanks Sirius - I was going off the "limit plates" on the back of so many LGVs these days. |

Ouch, again that is down to transport companies. The maximum speed for a 7.5 ton LGV on motorways is 70 mph. My boss at former LGV company had ours reduced to 65 mph as he was fed up of getting all those D.O.T. driver warnings. Can't blame him to be honest as many of us after last delivery, put pedal to the metal. :-) |

Oh dear, how silly you are. The financial and point penalties start at the posted limit and increase in severity depending on how far over the limit you are going, with bans come into force at some point above the limit. https://www.gov.uk/speeding-penalties and the level of penalty (sadly not too easy to find on an HMG site) https://solicitors.guru/articles/1-speeding-penalties-topping-fines-list-uk/ |

Oh dear, how silly you are]Nothing new there aside from stating the obvious that is. :-) Glory. Feeling well chuffed with myself. All bills paid up to date. Electric will need topping up just before end of Sept. Gas some time August next year. Next bill due which is in August ^ will be paid on receipt of bill, also in full. Grumble. That chuffed feeling wiped out today at 11 am by the postman. There is no way in hell am I going to lose close to £400 in credit. See if the elephant in the room can be seen in the image in my next post. |
