More grumbes, again I list power this time shortly after noon for an hour and 20 mins. This is not good for keeping warm or crunching. |

Heavily saturated soil caused by massive precipitation for the last 2 months causing land slides and trees falling over. This last time it was not raining and no noticible wind. |

Grumble: Because my passport has expired, I can't use the on-line service to renew my driving licence but have to go to Post Office and use form D1. Be interesting to see if I get new one by February when old one expires. The really annoying bit is the amount of things I had to fill in before telling me this. The saga continues: My nearest post office couldn't do it and told me two others that allegedly could. I went to the closest of these who told me the reminder letter I had was no use and I needed the original notification with a bar code on it. (I hadn't received any such original notification.) On trying the main post office in Cambridge, all sorted and the one I had been told could do it wouldn't have been able to anyway. The person who delt with me very efficiently thinks the person in the second one was probably thinking about vehicle license renewal and not driving license. Anyway it seems that in two out of three post offices, there are staff who don't know their funny bone from their fundament, at least going by my limited sample. |

Regardless of county of origin GS positions seem to attract the two ends of the bell curve. |

Congrats Brits. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/covid-latest-news-coronavirus-restrictions-tests-cases-vaccine/ Omicron is "in retreat" but we have not reached the "finish line" in the fight against coronavirus, Sajid Javid has warned. Confirming the end of Plan B restrictions in England, the Health Secretary told a Downing Street press conference that the relaxation of measures was a "major milestone". "But it's not the end of the road and we shouldn't see this as the finish line because we cannot eradicate this virus and its future variants,” he added. "Instead we must learn to live with Covid in the same way we have to live with flu." It comes after the Prime Minister today confirmed an immediate end to work-from-home guidance, with compulsory mask-wearing and mandatory Covid passes to be scrapped next Thursday. Attaboy. Now, let's follow that all over the world, shall we? |

"Boris Johnson told MPs that people will no longer be told to work from home and, from Thursday next week when Plan B measures lapse, mandatory Covid certification will end. The Government will also no longer mandate the wearing of face masks anywhere from next Thursday and they will be scrapped in classrooms from this Thursday." |

Don't agree with his getting rid of mandatory masks on public transport which is likely to prolong the problems of NHS staff absence due to infection. |
