I just wish these so called scientists / researcher's would just make up their minds on "the science". Social distancing indoors not enough to prevent COVID-19 exposure One of the things mentioned... Talking can spread COVID quickly |

Today, in anticipation of my upcoming birthday I splurged on myself. I either wanted a new videocard, or a new CPU. With just a normal RX 6800 already costing an eye watering €1,300.- I decided to splurge on a new CPU, upgrading from my AMD 3900X to an AMD 5950X. Then the 3900X can go into my Taichi motherboard (which was tested and found to be not defective) into the TV server. Lots of rebuilding in my near future. :) |

Hope you have a good cooling solution for that 5950X. They run very hot compared to 3000 series. |

I asked the store about that and they said my present Corsair H100i (240mm AIO) should suffice, but if it doesnt, I will upgrade to the H115i (280mm AIO). I also don't plan to run it in SMT from the beginning. Haven't done that with my 3900x either. Going from 4 cores to 12 was enough already. 😁 Btw, the TDP of both processors is the same 105W. |

The temp differential between my 3950X's and my 5950X is about 5-10 degrees at equivalent clock speeds and Vcore voltages. But the 5950X is hotter because it is doing more work clock for clock than the 3950X and so uses more power and produces more heat. Only using 16 cores and no SMT will help in reducing temps. |

What the.. I thought we had crazy COVID rules/regulations in a handful of US cities & states. New Zealand Covid: Men caught smuggling KFC into lockdown-hit Auckland Police photos showed at least three buckets of chicken, about 10 cups of coleslaw, a large package of fries, and four large bags containing other KFC items. |

Good thing I had my vacation in the UK when I did, two years ago. Can you still get around when tank stations are out of petrol? |

Can you still get around when tank stations are out of petrol?Yes, I had a lovely clear run into town for lunch - the local fuel station was closed, so no queue and no scrum of turning traffic. It had opened again by the time I'd finished my meal, but I didn't bother to turn in. I do hope that drivers from the mainland have the sense to reject the King's Shilling, at least until we grovel for re-admission to the club. Make that 20 years or so. |

That'll be fun for the "just-in-time" delivery theory. |

What delivery? You want it - whatever it is? You come get it yourself. |

But it's the supermarkets that need restocking. One near me has deliveries from trucks with 10 sets of wheels under the trailer part - a pair on each axle, 5 axles each side. It takes quite a while for them to get out of the street and into the loading bay - back and forth, back and forth ... While I'm stuck in a bus getting bored. :) |

But it's the supermarkets that need restocking. What supermarket, now you pick up from the various factories and farms, everything must be in walking distance to cut down on carbon. |

But it's the supermarkets that need restocking. Does not sound fun at all... I don't suppose that a set of building plans from what we call a Major Box Store (Wal-Mart or the like) were multiple large trucks can back into loading bays for easy loading and unloading would help the lot size of your stores may be restrictive. |

It's official - this country is falling apart as we watch. Lost all power this morning. Took them about an hour and a half to send a couple of chaps round to change the fuse in the sub-station. They were all set to pack up and go home, until we pointed out that only 40 of the 42 houses affected had come back on. That'll need a digger, apparently. I'm mostly all right, but it's looking like I've lost a wireless access point and the PSU in my daily driver. Still checking... |
