Please read this.................. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/covid-migrants-texas-garland-lawsuit This single quote proves how sick and twisted the Biden administration actually is. But Garland said the order not only interfered with federal laws but "would jeopardize the health and safety of noncitizens in federal government custody." They are more concerned with the health and welfare of illegal noncitizens than they are about the health and welfare of American citizens. Biden must be immediately held accountable and put in prison for treason against the citizens of this country. |

Wow, Mark congrats, you have found a new alternate reality. Hey, it's reality. And nothing compared to the alternate universe you choose to live in. A universe comprised of lies you choose to believe. And that is OK. For you. But the rest of us have to live in the real world. And deal with the fallout of the lies you foster and spread. |

Wow, Texas wants to secede. The U.S. Army should be sent down there to the Capital Austin and seize the treasonous traitors. Don't waste time on lawsuits. |

Wow, Texas wants to secede. The US army should take up arms and go to Washington to take Biden and his cronies out. |

Thank you all, that was enough (US) politics in this thread for now. I don't mind you talking politics, but then start your own thread outside this one, and keep it civil. |

Grumble: 12 new 250KW charging points for EV's at local park and ride but only useable if you can afford a Tesla. |

Grumble: 12 new 250KW charging points for EV's at local park and ride but only useable if you can afford a Tesla. There are connector adapters to change from one format to another. Also, Tesla just announced they are opening their SuperCharger network to any and all car brands. |

There are connector adapters to change from one format to another. I heard something about that too but not sure of any time scale. Also these ones currently talk to the cars they charge and there is nothing there for interfacing with credit card/phone app. I guess they will need to resolve that before others can use them. |

Luckily he posted with just one account. The tricky ones are those posting with multiple accounts at the same time. |

There are connector adapters to change from one format to another. There is development of a vendor/charging network agnostic authorization platform where it won't matter what brand auto or which charging network you use, your auto will be identified, charged and billed to your centrally designated account. All without cards or fobs or passkeys. Just plug in, charge, and leave. |

There are connector adapters to change from one format to another. 90% of the time it would make no difference to me as I would charge up for free from the pv on my roof. Just hope that they have it sorted by the time I get round to getting an EV. |

Unless you have a lot of excess generation over your consumption during the day, you would need battery storage or have to pull from the grid overnight. Onboard car chargers are fairly slow and low powered. Most only have from 3.3kw to 6.6kw chargers, a rare one at 11kw. And you need to have at least 240VAC - 50A service. And you will need to charge for as much as 12 hours with cars that have 80-100kWh battery packs. The universal charging service is mainly for long distance travel away from home charging and that is always DC charging, not AC charging. Only with DC Fast charging are you able to get fast charging times of around 30-60 minutes. |

That's my concern as well. In the UK, 240V (-ish) AC is universal, but the supply up my street looked very ancient when they had to dig it up to fix a fault. It was so old it wasn't even shown on their modern electronic map: they had to resort to detectors and pure guesswork to know where to dig. Sticking an extra 50A (per house) onto that sounds decidedly iffy - not to mention that I would have to get it out to the far end of my private parking lot. My temporary stop-gap is a modern, standards-compliant, pure diesel. range ~600 miles between tanking, and it counts as 'ultra low emission' for city use. I took it for an 1,800 mile run last year, only filling twice away from home, but I don't think I saw a single EV charging point at any of my overnight stops during the run. |

The solution for inadequate power infrastructure is just don't use it. One of the portable solar/battery charging stalls would be the ticket. Just drop it into an existing parking space. No grid hookup required. |

Unfortunately, we have a phenomenon called 'winter' here. And it rains... |

At the park and rid they are talking about covering all the parking spaces with panels which at peak output I guestimate would provide about 1MW which would power 4 of the 12 charging points Tesla have just put in there. However, that could do quite lot of slow chargers given that most will be parking there for about 8 hours while at work. |
