We're too wishy-washy in that. Even during the first wave when our borders were so-called closed? We still had 400-500 asylum seekers walk into the country each week.

Even now, we're not to travel anywhere but they can come in unhindered. With whatever they've picked up on their trip over. So we're just asking for this mutation. Which apparently is already here, some people were found to carry it at the start of December, while In Britain it's been found in growing groups since September. Viruses mutate. In a couple of years the vaccines we now have won't work on them anymore. Learn to live with it. There's a new flu in town.

One way that is almost certain to stop the transmission of the virus is to go into isolation - either by the borders looking out being shut, or those looking in being shut. A lot of "UK facing" countries have shut their borders to travellers from the UK in the hope that this will stop the onward transmission of the the new virus strain from the UK. BUT, this strain was first detected a couple of months ago, but because there were so few cases nobody really paid any notice to it - virus do change and most of those changes vanish quite rapidly and don't become mainstream. Then it was detected in ever increasing numbers and notice was paid. Now this new mutation is big news, it appears to be a little more benign but much more infective than the "main" variant.

It is already in Europe, and it is the Europeans that should be worried. Whereas the UK has started its vaccinations, already half a million have received it. But in Europe, Brussels ordered too few doses - much to the fury of German health minister Jens Spahn - and mostly spread its bets on a range of vaccines that will not be available until the middle of the year or until late 2021.

And the Oxford vaccine is possibly going to be licensed this month, and if it is and as it its easier to handle, household fridge is adequate for storage, about 10 million Brits will have been vaccinated by the end of February 2021.

Uhm Brussels doesn't tell us which vaccines to use, the individual countries can decide that by themselves. Most countries will start vaccinations before the end of the year, only we in the Netherlands must wait until January. But even then, it'll be August before gross of the people are allowed to get it. So we wait anyway
