Who had to reduce / pull the plug on crunching during a COVID layoff? I myself had to pull the plug yesterday, after I heard it would be the last week for not only me, but all of us. Company is closing doors, as the small business loan never went through fast enough. |

I too am sorry to hear of loss. Not here, I got retired involuntarily in the recession of 2008 and haven't worked since. Luckily I landed on my feet so crunching was not effected. |

Really sorry to hear they are gone. Temporary Layoff here. Crunch modified, don't want to pay for A/C to crunch, so time of day limits have been put in. If the WX is for cold, crunch on. |

FPL (Power and Light company) has sent notifications our electricity will be 20% cheaper during the lockdown. I have restarted the servers under an ECO-setting (GPUs now limited to 145/169W, down from 210W), Ryzen CPUs now running ECO setting (2,7Ghz @ 65W, vs 3,8Ghz @ stock 105W). More resources allocated to COVID19 projects, and discontinued high PPD projects like Collatz or Prime. (more selective on what projects I'll be running). I really want to get back to work, so I can buy more CPUs and PC hardware, to upgrade the farm. |

Sorry about the company. That’s a real bummer. We may declare BK soon, but not sure what my future holds. I’ve done my summer idling of my winter rigs, and stopped high PPD and high energy consumption projects. No collatz, gpugrid, and am running Einstein on my single GPU that I didn’t idle. I stopped projects that use AVX until end of summer, which unfortunately includes Rosetta, LHC and Tn-Grid. With COVID I’m running WCG almost exclusively, but have some universe still allocated, but will idle that rig for the summer too (bummer as Epyc is likely my most efficient, but dell bios doesn’t have a low tdp option for it yet, and it’s so loud to boot). Plan in the next week or two to pare down to my desktop and one server using no turbo boost until fall. |

Restarted everything, but now it's so hot outside, my servers still need to run at reduced performance. Thinking of swapping out the honeywell fan, for a box fan, for increased airflow. |

No change due to covid. Daytime crunching is on free electricity from the roof. No income from doing massage and aromatherapy and won't be for a while yet and probably won't be for a while after the government says I can start again. Spending time packing organic veg boxes instead for a small local business that has tripled in size since lockdown. |
