Anyone been guilty of saying any of these to you kids, grandkids, etc and getting a blank stare of "huh? what does that mean?"

Been there done that to my great grand kids > Sounding like a broken record.

13 Common Idioms the Kids Don’t Understand
Yeah, I'm old enough to remember all of those examples. I have another example that happened to me recently.
The background of this is, that in my apartment building we have a very small elevator.

One day I was coming home, at the same time as a teenager who lives on the same floor as I do, so we took the elevator together, On the way up,
I said "this elevator is as small as a phone booth". The result from the teenager was exactly that blank stare. She didn't understand at all what I was referring to. :-)

And if you mentioned S&H Green Stamps in front of anyone in the last several generations... getting simply a Blank Look back would be getting off easy.

Oh the memories of being a young kid and helping mom lick the drawer full of Green Stamps and putting them in the books. Then on another day heading to the redemption center with all the full books to retrieve our "valuable prize."

And a www search shows the 'stamps' are still around in the virtual world under a different ownership, thankfully no stamps to lick!

Want to see blank stares and no reaction to some (pretty famous) actors? Watch Linus and family look at cringy tech commercials: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXVeSJ1WAt0 and see if you can spot the actor they cannot.

Dreamlab keeps falling over on Android in virtual box. Anbox won't run because I don't have the kernel module ashmem. Might be time to see if I can remember how to compile a kernel AKA work out what all the instructions mean again!

Actually not quite. Need to build the modules and load them. Shame that with the instructions I found only the first step works.

For the oldies among us, Extreme is back with a new song called Rise. The video is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJ_AOIbj8AA, and do listen to the guitar solo from 2m22s. It's being talked about widely. Afterward, do listen to Rick Beato's excellent description of the song at The Nuno Bettencourt Solo Everyone is Talking About.

Oh this doesn't sound good...
Motherboard software bug can accidentally kill AMD Ryzen X3D CPUs
An apparent bug has been discovered in the motherboard management software from several leading board vendors that makes it incredibly easy to fry your X3D-based AMD CPU. We do not yet have a timetable for when safeguards will be installed so until then, be very careful when tinkering around in motherboard management software with these chips. One mistake and poof, your CPU could become a shiny desk ornament.

... Worse yet, the apparent bug has since been discovered in similar management software from ASRock, Asus and Gigabyte.

Finally, after slightly over a year of doing (not daily!) dailies, I have finally managed to get the last rare crate that I needed for the past 2 months.

I'm done.
Yay.

I'm on my travels again. One of the delights of random walks around strange cities is the things you find that aren't mentioned in the tour company's walking notes. Midway between a palace described as "the most beautiful building in [the city]" and the "magnificent plaza of ...", I find this deep, dark moat, surrounding another grand building - locked, silent, guarded by CCTV. No advertisement, except the building itself.

Can you guess what, and where, it is?

Fortunately, I have a map, which gives me a name. And you can read the rest on Wikipedia. Just one more thing that is gently being forgotten by history

Well, you didn't have to peek - it would have been even easier if I'd given you the name en clair, even in Spanish.

I just thought someone might find it something to think about. Christobal Colon (oh, look it up) gave the Spanish King a Royal monopoly on the tobacco trade, just as the Royal Africa Company gave the English a Royal monopoly on the triangular slave trade (which, again, wasn't taught in school, even though I was schooled in Bristol. I only found out recently). And both families became very rich as a result. Hence, presumably, the moat - though whether it was intended to keep the workers and their contraband inside, or the robbers out, remains unclear.

I just hope that in a connected world, both countries would avoid making the same type of mistake again - though the signs aren't great.

No, that's true. So. Next week, give the Wikipedia page 24 hours later. :D

I could have given you this:

The girl in full costume bumped into her mate in white jeans and the patterned top in front of me - seemingly by chance. There was full flamenco demo going on on the level below, and the music drifted up to us, so they did a quick impromptu warm-up together in the middle of what was going on around them. Nobody batted an eyelid.
