Yes. It's called a 4x2 delivered to the back of the skull. Or in modern parlance 100x50! |

Naughty gnawers... Beavers shut down the internet for 36 hours in a small Canadian town by chewing through fiber cables while looking for materials to build their dam. |

]Those are high tech beavers. I wonder if they'll find a dam with disco lighting in it? Internet rumors indicate as we post here, they have cued up the soundtrack to the movie Saturday Night Fever, put on their leisure suits and are strutting around the dam. ;) |

Time to put on the hard hats, and get down in the bunkers: A giant piece of space junk is hurtling towards Earth. Here's how worried you should be |

Well, everything seems to be chugging along nicely without my input, so less work for me. :) |

LIVE: Starship SN15 Flight Test SpaceX is performing a test flight of Starship SN15. The prototype will aim to be the first Starship vehicle to softly land during a high altitude flight test. Like the previous Starship prototypes, SN15 is expected to fly to approximately 10 kilometers. |

I know we have a few bee keeper's in the group... Honeybees tell time without clocks or sun, study says. It may be bad news for your diet By studying forager honeybee behavior inside simulated hives, a team of researchers learned the bees shifted their daily routines, or circadian clocks, with the temperature. |

I know we have a few bee keeper's in the group... Makes sense. Below a certain temperature they can't fly and the amount of nectar produced by flowers is after the early blossom like trees and oil seed rape highly temperature dependent at least in UK. Most species after about mid June produce only small amounts below about 19 or 20C. (Drought also leads to very low nectar production in many species.) |

It is a long time since I ripped any cd's to hard disk. (think 2x drive and386sx cpu.) The process is a tad quicker than I remember! |

OOPS U.K. Cops mistook a bitcoin mine for a weed farm Why it matters: Seeing as how the building they surveilled checked many of the same boxes as an indoor weed farm, the police raided the facility. But all those random visitors, the maze of ventilation ducts and the excessive energy use were really just signs that "farm" was actually a "mine" -- a bitcoin mine. In the end, the cops got their collar because the building was mining bitcoin with stolen electricity . |

Testing branch. One task is producing 6GB of data in under 24 hours. Takes just over 10GB of disk space and uses just over 6GB RAM peak. Time for an update of system requirements for project I think! I wouldn't have to even get close to using all the cores at my disposal to be producing data a lot faster than I could upload it. (Had to increase the disk_bound substantially before running the task as it is but that is down to the project not putting in a big enough figure to start with. (alerted by a fellow tester that I needed to do this by his task crashing because it exceeded the limit.) |

Managed to really screw up the time estimates of BOINC. Running testing branch for Windows tasks under WINE. First outing for the windows version on my Ryzen. Having copied my home directory over from my core2 duo machine before it went to meet its maker, a four hour task is currently estimating almost 3 days. I will eave it to sort itself out over time. |

Or it may just be the problems with BOINC reporting speed when running under WINE. My FP benchmark is 0.28 billion ops/sec on the Ryzen with WINE when it is 7.9 billion on Linux. |

Curious why you aren't just running bare metal BOINC in Linux in the first place instead of jumping through WINE. Is is possibly because you want to run some project that does not have any Linux applications? |

Is is possibly because you want to run some project that does not have any Linux applications? This was to run some CPDN testing branch tasks that were Windows only. Now those are finished, I am back to running main site tasks on Linux. The project has different task types running on Windows from those that run on Linux for various reasons, the main one being it is easier to track down bugs in only one OS at a time. |
