Hello everyone!

I got a question: How to let BOINC download or upload more than 2 files at the same time?
I am running a machine that only gets a few mins of Network and then runs for a few days offline.
After returning to the machine it only Uploads 2 files at the same time and downloads 2 files at once.

Can I change that to more than 2?

Thank you very much and with greetings
EddyT :)

Hi!

Open cc_config.xml in your Boinc data folder. Look for <max_file_xfers> and <max_file_xfers_per_project>

Change those values to your liking. Save. On the Boinc Manager... click Options - Read config files

Thank you very much!
The cc_config.xml was not there so I made one and put it in the C:\ProgramData\BOINC Folder.
Set it up like this:

 <cc_config>
 <options>
  <max_file_xfers>10</max_file_xfers>
  <max_file_xfers_per_project>10</max_file_xfers_per_project>
</options>
</cc_config>

Works awesome! Thanks!

Thanks!
This guide is very helpful!

They should up the number from 2 to 6 or 8 by default. We're not living in dialup times anymore.
With 5G, or wired Ethernet connection, this could even be increased to 15 or 20.
But for compatibility, I think 6 should be the minimum.

In testing last year, some of the new 64bit OpenIFS tasks for cpdn had files of almost 1GB to upload. I could see problems with other projects running alongside if uploading say ten of these on my slow bored band connection so would argue against increasing max_file_xfers_per_project above two by default and certainly wouldn't do it on my boxes until/if I get rather greater bandwidth. Not that I would ever run more than two of those tasks at once on my current hardware as their peak ram usage was over 5GB/task.

Most of my tasks are between 10kb and 3MB. I ran 10 at a time, and it uploads all within 1 second on a regular 2.4Ghz wifi connection with 3 out of 5 bars...
100 queued tasks took under 1 minute.
