I see three apps. 1. Compare corona vs known Human RNA in majority populations looking for unique sections in the virus - Send results to server - Server compiles and returns agian to test against more rare human RNA - App returns those sections most unique 2. Compile Enzyme formula for dissolving RNA in the cell based on app 1 returns OR Compile kill switch via Todd Rider MIT DRACO style based on RNA 3. Fold/Package molecules. Need RNA copy- Need Human RNA database Feasibility? I am not coder, I am not in position to lead this. |

I believe that apps to do all these tests already exist in BOINC, or have existed at some point, thus ripping sections should be "simple." |

Isn't that akin to asking if it's possible to cure the common cold or influenza? They're viruses, there are no antibiotics against viruses. There are no medicines against viruses. It's possible to get a vaccine against many viral diseases, but as soon as it changes, the vaccine doesn't help anymore either. Just look at that flu-jab you can get, it holds antibodies of several flu strains they think are going to hit this year, but you just need one strain that isn't in there, or that's mutated and the flu-jab doesn't help anymore. |

It may well be possible to speed up getting a vaccine but by the time we have one the outbreak will likely be over. Acyclovir is an antiviral drug that can speed up recovery from most viruses but it doesn't kill them off like antibiotics do bacteria. |

>to asking if it's possible to cure the common cold or influenza The answer is that it's not easy. DRACO bets on the fact that the cell will die anyway, and cuts the cell short before it can make copies and spread the infection further. But there are natural occurring Enzymes that target dsRNA specifically, and I would assume that creating one that targets RNA wouldn't even be that hard. Again, all the tools seem to be in place across BOINC, and have been for a decade and a half? |

Work on this virus IS being done, and it doesn't need BOINC to do it. Australian lab first outside of China to re-create coronavirus, helping vaccine push |

I don't understand your comment. Please explain your logic. |

I should have noted, the DRACO project actually does cure the common cold. With no tin-foil in sight, I think we've clearly been hampered by the drive for care $$$, not cures. |

Some other effects: Coronavirus disruption hits store shelves as Australian retailers face 'serious pinch' from COVID-19 outbreak And a few weeks ago, when I tried to get parts to build a new computer, they weren't available. I suspect that's because they come from China, where a lot of factories have been shut down. Coronavirus: What happens when a COVID-19 pandemic is declared? |

How silly can people get! Fortunately, this is a fairly mild virus. When the big one hits, we will see how silly it can get. |

Dutch virologists found an antibody blocking SARS-COVID-2 https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.03.11.987958v1 The emergence of the novel human coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 in Wuhan, China has caused a worldwide epidemic of respiratory disease (COVID-19). Vaccines and targeted therapeutics for treatment of this disease are currently lacking. Here we report a human monoclonal antibody that neutralizes SARS-CoV-2 (and SARS-CoV). This cross-neutralizing antibody targets a communal epitope on these viruses and offers potential for prevention and treatment of COVID-19. |

good news, bad news. bad news, tRump likely has enough clout to get in on the trial, won't die and get cured. good news, we are cured and get to live, uh, wait a second, tRump is too, that's not good news. Seriously, great news, now can they make enough of it fast enough and does it work inside the body and not just in a petri dish. |
