Every time I wake up my phone (i.e. turn on the screen), there is a notification from Boinc saying "thankyou for participating". How do I stop it doing this?

I do love it when I find the answer 5 seconds after asking it. It's like when you say "where did I leave the.... oh there it is".

Just getting used to the really really weird Android interface (I've never had a smartphone before). It seems if I er.... stretch(?) the notification before I unlock the phone, I get an option to "clear" the message. It wasn't a new message every time, but one I hadn't acknowledged or something.

Actually, it's still doing it. Do I have to turn off all notifications? I'd like to be told of problems, but I don't need "thankyou" every day.

Probably the thank you notes are from the projects you're working on.
You'll have to visit the project's website, log in to your account, and disable messages from there
You can also use a manager (eg: Boinc BAM online), and do some setups from there.

Unmark the second checkbox in boinc settings. It should disable any notifications. Alternatively, you can go into Android settings, apps and notifications, boinc, disable notifications.

You could also turn on Android's 'Do not disturb' setting.
