Hi @ everyone, at the moment I try the new version 5.7.2 of the BOINC - Client. Normally I run two projects at the same time: Seti@Home and BBC Climate Change Experiment I configured the "old" client (5.4.11) to switch between the projects each 30 minutes. The new client got the same config, but it runs only the Seti@Home WU´s because they got a much shorter endtime. The endtime of CPDN is in the end of 2007, the WU´s of Seti got mostly 1-3 Weeks. How could I manage it to split the CPU-Time between the two projects ? BTW: I know it´s a beta or DEV-Version - but what is a beta without some users who tests the programm ? ;) Thanks for any help ! :) Greetz Akermit |

I think you are seeing some improvements and misunderstanding them. EDF mode is mostly gone now, instead a task gets more CPU time throughout its life on the host. ie. If a task needs a 70% resource share to complete on time it will get it and the LTD will adjust for inequality with other projects. Also the client no longer rigidly switches at the switch time, instead it waits until the next checkpoint after the switch time. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

Just observed a bizarre event in 5.7.2 on windows 5.7.2 is ALPHA software. It will have bugs. Post specific problems in this thread. Don't use it on all your machines. Update all Alphas if you want to test the software. Don't always think it's you BOINC's fault. It could well be the application's fault as well. Report it to both the Alpha email list and the project's forums. The latest version is 5.7.4 If you don't want to test alpha software on your systems, wait for the next release client. Alpha/Beta clients can be recognized easily by the odd number in the middle (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) such as 5.7.4 Public Release Clients will always have an even number in the middle. Such as 5.4.11 |
