url for CPDN is changing to https://www.cpdn.org/ The old one will continue to work for the time being. BOINC is expected to make the change tomorrow some time which will lead to the "old url" message.

CPDN will also start using BOINC notifications in the near future.

Andy tells us changeover is complete. However, not convinced BOINC has changed yet as no message saying I am using an old url. Latest I was told is it should happen some time today. A good time to do it as with no work, computers can be detached and reattached to the project.

I'd enforce contact with the scheduler first (Manager, Projects tab, update) and scour the Event Log for the proper messages - including 'using old url'. The current CPDN crew are still pretty green where BOINC is concerned: I wouldn't trust them to get a difficult change like that right until I see the results for myself.

Following my own advice on this machine just now, I got

12/09/2019 18:53:27 | climateprediction.net | Scheduler request failed: Error 403
- but admittedly this machine hasn't followed all the previous changes.

I just tried attaching to https://www.cpdn.org/, and no response.
It is getting late in the UK, so I will try again tomorrow.

I just tried pasting https://www.cpdn.org/ into a browser, and got

This site can’t be reached www.cpdn.org took too long to respond.

Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
Running Windows Network Diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
The usual browser rubbish can be ignored - I know I'm online because it's spellchecking as I type!

Edit - while I was typing that, the browser did connect - sort of. I got a very crude HTML representation of the front page (no style sheet formatting), and the error message

Warning: file_get_contents(https://www.cpdn.org/menu_boinc.xml): failed to open stream: Connection timed out in /home/boinc/cpdnboinc/html/inc/header.inc on line 9

Getting that now myself. The new url was working earlier. Also getting the above message on the old url though I can ping cpdn.org or could when I tried earlier.

Edit: ping now timing out as well.

David Wallom says

the team will investigate during office hours tomorrow.
and

As we are seeing messages about a number of services I am suspecting network equipment problems rather than the underlying CPDN servers.
I'm not sure I follow the logic of that last one.

Doesn't he mean that a network problem would be common to several of the services?
If it were just a server problem, it should affect only one or a few.

That is progress - whatever it means.

Website now working again with new url.
Still no message about using old url if I do a manual update for the project with BOINC. I will hold off detaching and re-attaching till I get a message from Andy.

David has now changed his mind as to the cause. A new fix is in place, and should propagate to all in 24 hours or so.
