Message 6308 - Posted: 3 Nov 2006, 15:33:43 UTC

I have my BOINC client attached at about 30 project, but now there is only 1 project in the pool area (and working).
I tryied to "Update" all the other projects but the most frequest reply is

03/11/2006 16.13.46|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user
03/11/2006 16.13.46|SETI@home|(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks)
03/11/2006 16.13.51|SETI@home|Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 507]

I know that the only way to receive new WUs is to Update, but this seems not working!

Is there anyone who know the reason ??
Thanks in advance

Have you checked your debt number with BoincDV to make sure they aren't lopsided.

Also check your numbers for your offending computer at the projects that won't DL new work. They have been known to get way out of whack and prevent new work from downloading.

These are mine for my Core2 at Seti.

% of time BOINC client is running 99.1804 %
While BOINC running, % of time work is allowed 99.8513 %
Average CPU efficiency 0.957079
Result duration correction factor 0.528213

Excuse me but I don't know where search for those data. I can say also that is only from few days (may be 4 or 5) that I have this behaviour

It is possible, that other projects "worked too much" and "are in debt".

For instance, on my computer:
PRJ: EINSTEIN@HOME LTD: 58081 RSRC: 410
PRJ: SETI@HOME LTD: 21179 RSRC: 750
PRJ: PIRATES@HOME LTD: 14708 RSRC: 27
PRJ: SETI@HOMEBETA LTD: -7529 RSRC: 1250
PRJ: SPINHENGE@HOM LTD: -23571 RSRC: 65

Einstein, Seti and Pirates are able to download work (positive LTD), but if there are such projects, than the second group (Seti Beta, Spinhenge) will most probably sit and wait and not download anything (negative debt). Take a look into the BOINC Wiki.

The first good step would be to download and run the tiny app BOINC Debt Viewer and copy the list of project names, LTD (fractional decimal parts are not important, the values are in seconds) and RSRC values.

BTW, you can possibly see "c:\\boinc\\comb.jpg", but as it is locally on your machine, it is invisible for the rest of us.

they are quite all negative.

As you can see from my cutting above, they aren't all negative.

The mean for LTD is always zero. That means that if you add up all the positive and negative numbers, they come out as zero.

PRJ: SETI@HOMEB STD: 0.000000 LTD: -13231.822485 RSRC: 150 -------------------------------

Seti is negative, it won't get work for a while.
The numbers there are in seconds. They are recalculated every second for all projects that are active, thus not those on Suspend or NNT with no work.

Pressing Update won't matter at that time, Seti won't download new work for you until the LTD for Seti reaches a positive number. Those projects that do have positive numbers and that do have work, will download new work and crunch.

By the by, Season Attribution has no new work, will not have new work. If that result you downloaded for them in March isn't crunching yet, you can just as well detach from the project. It won't be done within the next 2 months anyway.
