Acoustics seems to have been down for some days now, anyone have any idea what is going on there? I have probably a dozen finished work units stuck in "uploading" and can't see the web site. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

There is some issues with University Data Center. Currently unknown how long it will take to restore availability of the server. No worries, no data was lost. Just server of this project and probably some others that are hosted in the same University Data Center. Thank you for understanding |

Thanks for the update. Trivial... There is an issue - singular There are some issues - plural Best wishes. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

Good to know nothing bad happened to your server and thanks for the update. Unfortunately we at l'Alliance Francophone were doing an event on Rosetta and Acoustics when it went down, so we (quite a good numbers of crunchers) were having lots of tasks being crunched, and they have all past the deadline now : we are hoping that you will do something when the project reopens to the public so that all these tasks are not lost / killed by the server when they are finally sent back ! It represents a lot of science calculation (at your benefit) and credits (at ours ;) ) so we really hope you can do something about it. Thanks a lot in advance and good luck |

@JeromeC, I'm not from Acoustics@Home team. I just a member of some Russian-language forums where I got this information about issues with University Data Center. So I understand you but personally I can do nothing in this situation, just keep you updated here. Thanks |

Hello Still no news about acoustics server ? |

It has been a substantial "gap". Whatever the issues and status of the project server I would have expected someone to have made a comment or progress report somewhere, and here would seem an appropriate place. There must be other computers around them from which they could have done so. I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever come back. I have sent an e-mail to one of the chaps listed on one of the, rather many, responsible groups. I'll report back if I hear anything. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

Maybe it's a cultural issue ? "Russian project, abrupt methods" :) (no offense, just humor ;) ) |

They insist that they are a civilian project, but I have been wondering who needs underwater acoustic data in the Sea of Japan? Maybe they were shut down. |

A lot of research would seem weird or "who cares" to people outside of the area, it doesn't mean the research has no value, simply means the observer is not aware of the needs. Why the sea of Japan, because it is nearby? Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

True enough. The research may be legitimate. But it may have hit on raw nerves in other parts of the government to disclose the technique and data. |

I have sent e-mails to a few of the, rather many, research places listed. I've not had a single reply from any. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

This is basically what I read at another project. Data center was moving then bureaucracy issues. From Xansons4Cod project forum The database of diffraction patterns is offline since April because the data center at the Institute for Information Transmission Problems of RAS in which it is hosted (also, this center is a hosting provider for the Acoustics@Home, USPEX@Home, SAT@Home, Optima@Home, Boinc.ru and some other non-boinc resources) is powered off and in the middle of moving to a new location. As soon as the data center will be powered on, the database will be back online. However, moving the academic data center to a new location is a long process because a lot of bureaucracy involved. |

It is a fast paced world today, but then a familiar deadweight springs out of the cupboard... >>> a lot of bureaucracy involved. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |
