I tried to upgrade my old Boinc, I keep getting this error:
Click Ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'BOINC.msi' in the box below.
Use source:
C:\Windows\Downloaded installations\.......

and then a 2nd box pops up saying:
The file 'C:\Windows\Downloaded installations\.......BOINC.msi.msi' is not a valid installation package for the product BOINC. Try to find the installation package 'BOINC.msi' in a folder from which you can install BOINC. click OK.

I have tried everything I know to get the latest upgrade package to install on my window's 10 64 bit computer or a new BOINC package to install. My old BOINC is no longer installed. I have been a BOINC user for about a decade or so. I don't know what to do, if anyone can help that be great news. I wish I could upload a photo of the errors.

A common problem for some.

Try the fix mentioned in this thread.

For more info, read the FAQ mentioned in the first reply in the thread.

You need to look closly at the BOINC download page and in smaller type below there is a link to "all versions"

Which takes you here:

https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

I assume you were updating to 7.14.2?

Or go here

THanks for trying to help, I've been to that page, downloaded it, can't get anything to install, always get that same error. maybe i'm stupid, but i just can't figure this crap out. i'm about to give up for good. my old boinc was deleted, the new won't install,

from that BOINC download page link you provided me:
7.14.2 Recommended version Download BOINC + VirtualBox 5.2.8 (92.93 MB)
Download BOINC (9.66 MB) 11 October 2018
7.12.1 Older version Download BOINC + VirtualBox 5.2.8 (92.92 MB)
Download BOINC (9.65 MB) 12 July 2018

I think my version was older than 7.12.1 and nothing will install since my old one was deleted by me before the install of the upgrade. I give up, but thanks 4 your help.

Did you look at the second link, the post headed

"BOINC 7.10.2 available for testing for Windows, Linux and Macintosh"

Further down that post is a direct link for 7.10.2

just looked on my program files in control panel, has the following:
Boinc 19.3 MB
7.0.28 8/29/2012

modify is greyed out, uninstall is operative.

I don't know where that came from it was deleted, but I still get the same error every time I try to install. any ideas?

As the BOINC FAQ had several points, not just reinstall the version you had, have you tried using the Microsoft Windows Program Uninstaller? It's really simple to use and will fix 99% of such problems.
