On SetiBeta a user changed his name to include a comma. Now other users can't send him a PM. The system supplies his user number and in parenthesis his user name. The system reads the comma in his user name as a delimiter for the next user name and fails.

Thanks for the bug report. Please advise him and the other users that the user name is not needed, and can be deleted, to allow the message to be sent to its destination via the user ID number alone.

They didn't like that - they reopened #594 (which has been sitting on the stocks for 11 years) instead.

Frankly the correct thing is to prevent special characters in [new] user names. All of them including non-printing. Solves many many issues.
And once written the code could be used for subject lines on the boards solving the issues there too.
