Unscheduled project downtime: a backend issue has come up that needs to be resolved. It will take some days unfortunately to resolve, there is a backup system that will be brought up in-place next week that will enable to the project to be brought back online again. Our apologies for this unscheduled downtime.

Hopefully those don't get lost in the shuffle somewhere. 31 tasks with most of the trickles for those since the site went down.

I would like to join this project.

I am particularly interested in Weather@home ACE-Africa. Is this active?

Thank you

Its been 2 weeks of downtime now. At least they upload files, but for the volunteers, if not already for some, we will be soon without tasks to process. An update from CPDN would be appreciated. Thanks

That's been the case for macOS and Linux users since the middle of last year and doesn't look set to change. I'd detach from the project if it weren't for its new "data protection" policy of disassociating ex-contributors from their credit.

Only have finished tasks. Reporting for my other project causes cpdn back off times to increase. Is there a way to stop BOINC manager "contacting" the server until cpdn reporting is working?
Sadly, no. One was proposed and even coded, but rejected by the custodians of the central codebase. Don't worry about it - they'll all be reported in one connection once the servers are back up, and the differential timings will help the servers cope with the mad scramble to create and distribute new work.

It should be standard practice for any project to post here when they are online. An update at least once a week on their status is not too much to ask for. But they often don't.

I hate to be a nudge, but, does anyone have any idea when the repairs will be finished and the site back up? I am almost out of work.

Rosetta makes a good backup project. You can set it for 0% resource share, so that it picks up work only when you are out of CPDN.
I now set it for 24 hours, and the Windows version seems to be getting about the same points as on Linux on identical i7-3770 machines.

If you look at
Dates of Term
you'll see that Hilary term finished on 10 March, and Trinity term doesn't start until 22 April. That's next Sunday.

Which means that most of the staff will be on leave, with mostly maintenance people on site.
These people will be working on long planned upgrades, replacements, etc.
When the servers used by cpdn started having increasing problems, the task of upgrading their software was added to the existing work list.
The first part of this involved switching to the backup servers. After that, the rest was/is non-urgent, and will get done when possible.
e.g. Loading software is start and forget. Which means that it can be slipped in between other things.
(Assuming work on server cabinets isn't part of the original maintenance list.)

Thanks, I am presently running Milkyway as a backup project. A quick fix doesn't sound promising.

Hi All,

The project is now back online. There was a major issue with the server on which the master database resides. We are now running the project from the slave server. Over the coming weeks there will have to be brief periods of scheduled downtime to switch back to using the master database machine.

Best regards,

Andy

Yes, I have reported all my completed tasks (14 of them), and downloaded two new ones. But not all of the reported ones show on the hostid status page.
I am sure it will take a while to get everything up to speed, but the important stuff is working.

I see that the database server is down again. Let’s just hope that it won’t be down all weekend again.

I am not sure of up from down anymore. But I am getting enough stuff to keep me busy. By setting my buffer to 6+1 days, I have enough for the next week, more or less.
They are sending out longer work units also, which helps. I don't care (much) about the statistics; they will get fixed eventually.
