so recently Boinc decided to move all of its files to my home directory instead of using /var/lib/boinc. the good side of that is it fixed pretty much all of my errors with VirtualBox and OpenCL, but the bad news is that the boinc files were in my personal, secure files and weren't even contained in a parent boinc folder so about 200 new files popped up, unorganized, in my home folder. I installed boinc from my package manager on Fedora, does anyone know how to get this version of boinc to point to the right directory? |

i know, that's why I'm trying to get it to point back to its directory instead of /~. |

Are you aware of any specific event which might have triggered this change? Did you choose to update anything (either Fedora or BOINC), or are you aware of any automatic update around the same time? BOINC in general doesn't have any form of automatic update (although I can't speak specifically of the Fedora implementation). |

I've had a word with the Fedora package maintainer, and he directed me to the discussion in https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/issues/2262. I'm not a Linux person, but it sounds as if it should be configurable. The second user in that discussion seems to have resolved it by uninstalling BOINC and re-installing with v7.8.4 The issue is certainly on the radar - please let us know how you get on. |
