Computer is a WinXP box When I walk away from the computer, BOINC will take over and start crunching data for me. No problems there But when I return, and move the mouse of hit a key, control may or may not be returned. If it is returned, it takes a minimum of 60 seconds to do so. I can hit Alt-Tab and see the other apps, and even scroll through the list, but control is NOT EVER relinquished by BOINC with this method. PS - How about a search tool within a subject category to see if this problem existed before WITHOUT having to scan all the previous posts ? Sometines I need to do a CAD (Ctl-Alt-Del) to bring up the task manager to get control back. What is the solution to this problem How can I get control back from BOINC more quickly, without having to wait long enough to grow a beard or having to bring up task manager to get control back ? |

Also say which BOINC version you run. How much RAM is in your system and how much page file you use (to compensate). It can even depend on which projects you run, how much it needs to write to disk before stopping its actions. |

1) Control means that Boinc lets go and I can do what I want instead of staring at a blank (very) dark blue screen Last 3 incidents took 2 minutes and 37 seconds, 3 minutes 12 second and 2 minutes 43 seconds to give the system back 2) Memory is 1.25 gig Pagefile is 2.5 gig running on a separate dedicated HD on IDE channel 2 with the DVD 3) Boinc manager is 5.2.13 4) I only run SETI I never had this kind of problem with the old SETI program I interrupted SETI and it was the same speed as alt-tabbing through different windows. |
