Dear community! I have got the problem which probably has a very simple solution but I couldn't find it directly. My mobile phone (LG G4) has got WiFi module broken. So, only mobile data connection is alive. And I still want to download tasks and send the results. Is it possible to do so? |

I have tried that.. But somehow did not work. Now I have got another problem: even before downloading any tasks. I am trying to connect to WCG but it says that the was a problem with connection. Does it mean that I can log in to the project only via WiFi? |

I'm doing cellular interwebs (experienced three ISPs, working on moving again), like literally -- USB modem, no calls. My take is -- each had/has its own hairs. Hairs you're dealing with might be specific. You should understand that cellular ISPs (also operators) are optimizing for slightly different usage. So, you either will find workaround (workaround isn't solution) or not. I'm counting for science, points just make me sick. |

I still could not find the workaround. Therefore, there is another question: maybe there is a way to download tasks "by hand" somehow? I know this is a complicated task distribution system but maybe it can "issue" a task as a number of files (I assume it works exactly like that) that can be copied to device by hand. |

To the solution you're imagining, the answer is -- no, I believe. But that made me thinking. Probably, you can do that anonymous app construct, or what the name is. So, you configure custom client that only talks to the server. It will download and upload but run any calculations. Then you could move WUs and science apps around. Probably will need additional place to store files that can be accessed with browser and/or FTP-client through cellular internet. Can't comment more -- never did it. I'm counting for science, points just make me sick. |
