Dear Experts, I am following the Quake-Catcher Network since 6 Oct 2013 but I wasn't able to deliver useable results. The last 4 tasks took a lot of CPU time and ended with an unexplicable error "Fehler beim Berechnen": Zeige Namen Arbeitspaket Computer Gesendet Meldezeit oder Ablaufdatum Erklärung Status Laufzeit(sek) CPU Zeit(sek) Punkte Anwendung 7607522 8831964 73602 8 Nov 2017, 2:47:32 UTC 13 Nov 2017, 10:34:50 UTC Fehler beim Berechnen 460,038.00 521,791.70 --- QCN Sensor v8.07 (nci) windows_x86_64 7603308 8827750 73602 4 Nov 2017, 18:44:41 UTC 8 Nov 2017, 2:47:32 UTC Fehler beim Berechnen 288,171.00 814,181.60 --- QCN Sensor v8.07 (nci) windows_x86_64 7593281 8818715 73602 28 Oct 2017, 12:01:36 UTC 3 Nov 2017, 1:17:56 UTC Fehler beim Berechnen 479,780.00 924,458.40 --- QCN Sensor v8.07 (nci) windows_x86_64 7585787 8811221 73602 22 Oct 2017, 12:33:31 UTC 28 Oct 2017, 12:01:36 UTC Fehler beim Berechnen 511,955.84 241,467.70 --- QCN Sensor v8.07 (nci) windows_x86_64 If I try to get an advice from the fora I get the message: To create a new thread in Number crunching you must have a certain level of average credit. This is to protect against abuse of the system. So I can't earn any credit without help for the errors and I am banned from asking for help in the fora. This is offending and reminds me of the "Hauptmann von Köpenick" story. Can somebody give me any help ? thanks Jochen Intel 4-proc-CPU, Windows 7 Pro |

Then do not post in the Number Crunching forum, but in one of the Help Desk forums. They don't require credit or RAC > 1. All the forums in Platform-specific problems and General issues allow posting without credit or RAC. Projects have their top forums protected, with the requirement that people have credit/RAC, to make sure only active people post there and more specifically that spammers don't post in those top forums. But as said, the lower forums are available. |

It would appear that QCN do not have the usual Q&A section - or at least if they do it is hidden from the "normal" person. Their "help" link points people straight to BOINC help, which is not what is needed to get QCN going properly. (Actually their website is a grade one mess, half in "BOINC style", and half in an older style that is allegedly being replaced by the BOINC style, but work appears to have stalled on the transition.) |

I haven't followed it, but from what I've read by others, the project has kind of been cycling between active and idle, more of the later. You can't even get a device directly from there anymore to hook up to your computer. You have to go out and get from a third party although supposedly it still (was) working with mobile devices, probably just Android since there's no BOINC for iOS. I think there is a project for Mexico that's more active. It's QCN but it's not run by the U.S. QCN folks. Last I looked though it appears you'll need to brush up on your Espanol as the project wasn't intended for international audiences... I ran the error msg through Google translate and got: Error while calculating Really odd it's in German. |

Was looking through the forums and it doesn't appear anybody is really monitoring things. There's SPAM from 3 years back that hasn't been cleaned up. The last news was 2013. This project should be delisted from the BOINC projects if it's not already. Looks like active support has dropped off the radar. Kind of embarrasing. There's a page of contacts: http://qcn.emsc-csem.org/about-qcn/contact-us I'd try writing them and saying hey, I love the idea of this project but I can't get going with it. Your support is kind of lacking here and your forums are filled with SPAM. |

I've hit a new problem. Norton N360 program, ws.reputation.1 is blocking qcn_graphics_8.07_windows_x86_64.exe. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing it? I've tried a couple of suggested ways to exclude qcn from scaning, etc., to no avail. May have to call Norton. |
