I'd like to know whether Ubuntu Boinc client will run on ARM CPU (Armada 38x). I tried to search community message boards to no avail. Thanks for help. |

As far as I know, the Linux BOINC clients are all built for Intel/AMD x86 and x64 CPUs. But if you want to be sure, you can contact Gianfranco about it on his BOINC PPA page. He is the official BOINC package maintainer for Ubuntu/Debian. |

Boinc already runs on ARM with the Android OS. I think he's talking about Linux on ARM. :) Likely he's probably got some type of ARM device like a Pi although some folks do have Linux running on actual Android devices. Someone told me on Free-DC they've run *buntu on Pi although they didn't mention if they ran BOINC. Beyond that, I have no idea what's involved with that. He might also check some of the forums for the big teams as maybe somebody posted info on running it. |

Well, it's for Raspbian. I don't know if it will run for another distro or non Pi devices... I wonder if Gianfranco might know? |

Ubuntu have BOINC available for all their supported architectures: amd64 arm64 armhf i386 powerpc ppc64el s390x. The short answer is yes it should run on the Armada 38x. The actual BOINC version depends on what version of Ubuntu the OP is running and if they want to use Gianfranco's ppa or just the standard Ubuntu repositories. MarkJ |
