Hello all,

First, I apologize if this belongs in the "ideas" section as that seems to be more related to ideas concerning publicity.

I recently witnessed a demonstration of my university's supercomputer. They said it remains idle about 20 percent of the time. I thought to myself, "BOINC..."

Actually, I said something too, which they seemed resistant to. But if you guys are able to sell them on it, then from the sound of things (I'm not tech savvy by any means) this thing is capable of boosting your output exponentially.

It sounds as though this machine can run ordinary Windows-based software as well, so it may not involve any extra resources in terms of programming.

Please invite supercomputer to our BOINC project ODLK

We have a lot of calculations. Let's see how the supercomputer handles them :)

When you get into supercomputer territory, there's a lot more overhead in terms of utilities, HVAC, and personnel that make it expensive to run... Unless they're looking to make some "donations" in that regard, that's probably why they're resistant. That's one of the reasons BOINC got its start, so that the expense of running a supercomputer could be distributed among volunteers, for groups that cannot afford to do so on their own.
