Neither the release notes or version history links on the official download page point to data or information regarding the 7.8.2 version.

https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php

Who is supposed to complete these updates ?

Thanks

That was answered in this thread already, three/four posts before yours.

I'd appreciate it that people read this thread before dumping their questions/complaint in it.

I have added the new release notes page and adjusted the version history page. Perhaps that during the next couple of days I'll add a couple of points, but the biggest changes are there, as far as I can see.

The newest BOINC will not stop running when I am on battery. I have to exit the program. I have it setup as a service will that cause it not to stop running on battery?

Message 81484 - Posted: 19 Sep 2017, 21:10:52 UTC - in response to Message 80762.

I downloaded and installed Version 7.8.2 of the BOINC client yesterday at approx. 11 pm Eastern time. Around 15 hours later, I started getting error messages saying "BOINC manager could not connect to a BOINC client." It then stated that the BOINC client had exited unexpectedly 3 times within the last 3 minutes." Then these same messages have reoccured with different times over the last 5 hours. I have been running BOINC software since 2006 and have never had this problem before. I am running macOS Sierra (10.12.6) on a 27 - inch, mid 2011 iMac with 16 GB of memory and an AMD Radeon HD 6970M graphics card with 2048 MB of RAM. I have reinstalled the client 3 times, and even reinstalled my last working version (boinc_7.6.34_macOSX_x86_64). Nothing works. If this is the right place for help, I definitely would appreciate it, otherwise a nice gentle shove in the right direction for help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you connected to the CPDN project? If so, please read recent posts in the 7.8.2 client crashes immediately at startup (macOS 10.12.6) thread.

About boinc & viruses : since Boinc creation back in the old days, it has *never* spread any kind of virus. No irony included.

If you wonder why please read this and that, if you pretend there *has* been any actual virus or malware spread via Boinc please provide proof.

Hi still having trouble with 7.8.2. Every now and then, when it finishes a task, it won't go get a new replacement. Running 4 tasks, and once each one is done, I get no new ones. The first time I caught it, I was down to 1 task. Today it's down to 3. Stopping/starting the Project doesn't fix it. Only resetting the entire project fixes it, but if you do that, all your current running tasks are wiped out. Occasionally It will finally replace a task, only to get a "Computational error" which I have to manually abort. Then it's hit or miss as to whether it will go get a new task or not. Am I the only one experiencing this??

Since installed this and the new Windows 10 update I can't get BOINC to find my GPU - it says "GPU missing". I have a GTX960 and am working on Moo! Wrapper for a pool... it worked fine before.
Can anyone help? I already reinstalled all my NVIDIA drivers.

Download link is broken!

Any idea when it will be fixed?

By the way, this is the Mac link that is broken.

As far as I can see, 7.8.2 is still broken. Can you post a link to previous version files? Thanks.

7.8.1 files can be found if you copy any of those links above and replace "7.8.2" with "7.8.1" on them.

I'm still running 7.2.47, don't remember being notified that an update was available.

Can I download from the BOINC main page website and not lose my projects?

And, what's the difference between

boinc_7.8.2_windows_intelx86.exe
and
boinc_7.8.2_windows_x86_64.exe

YES, you can install/upgrade to ANY newer version without loosing your work.
You MUST shut down & exit BOINC before attempting to install/upgrade. Also recommended to shutdown & restart you computer after the BOINC upgrade.

And, what's the difference between
boinc_7.8.2_windows_intelx86.exe
and
boinc_7.8.2_windows_x86_64.exe

intelx86 = x86 32 BIT version... for OLDER versions of Windows like XP or VISTA that are 32 BIT installs.
x86_64 = x64 64 BIT version... for NEWER versions of Windows like Windows 7, Windows 8.x or Windows 10 that are 64 BIT installs.

Even Windows 10 still comes in 32bit flavor. Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 have all been available in both 32 and 64 bits. It mainly depends on what CPU you have installed, for example the ARMv7 which is 32bit tech and can install Windows.

I would, however, suggest that you wait until at least v7.8.3 is officially 'recommended', which should be "real soon now".

v7.8.2 has several significant issues. v7.8.3 has ... fewer. Unless you wish to run the Spanish language version - in that case, wait until at least v7.8.4, or watch for announcements.

Boinc v7.8.2 works fine for me since its release.

My system:
PhenomII 945 X4
4 GB RAM
Win 10 Pro

Just thought to let you know.

Oh, I just saw that 7.8.3 has been released. Nice....
Now I'll take a good look at that version :)
I'll let you guys know.

@ Ageless: Thanks a lot for still putting effort into the BOINC community. It would by far not be what it is without you. Thanks m8!
