I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the following projects: CAS@Home, DENIS@Home, FiND@Home, MindModeling@Home, RNA World, SAT@Home, SZTAKI Desktop Grid. I've had these projects in my Boinc manager for a while now and they seem to not have any work. Are these projects dead? Thank You |

As far as I am aware:
DENIS: Have had server issues which they have wanted to rectify properly before they restart. Everything should be fixed soon. FIND: Have been taken over by GridRepublic which caused some contention. No recent news. MindModelling: Project is still active but there hasn't been any work recently, apparently there will be some more "soon" RNA World: Project is still active, they are currently working on a batch of "Monster" work units, which are taking the best part of a year to run. They are not sending any new work units out whilst these are run by their dedicated crunchers SAT: Appears to be dead Sztaki: Project is active but does not queue work, if you are a very lucky user you will get work units, once you hae completed some work units you are much more likely to get more. Most people only get a couple and then never get anymore. |

One way to check project status is to visit Free-DC.org or BoincStats. Click on a project and you can see how many points it generated daily in the last 28 to 40 days (along with much more info if you click around). For example CAS@Home generated zero points in the last 40 days according to BoincStats. http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=index https://boincstats.com/en |

>>> are run by their dedicated crunchers My machines run 24/7, have done for years, I have a fair bit of credit at RNA, but not had anything for a very long time. I wonder how one becomes a dedicated cruncher. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

All of these Projects show some minor activity with the exceptions SAT@home which has had no activity since September of 2016. That said all of the other projects appear to have very limited numbers of WU's being done. In the case of DENIS@home project is inactive pending an Application rewrite and database repair. The ADMIN is alone and over committed by his admission in in the most recent news article said that while the project is important to him it will be quite a while before it comes back up. As for why you are not getting WU's on some of the others many reasons can apply subject to your types of system(s) and or configuration VS the applications being run on the projects. SZATAKI Desktop Grid is known to be hard to get WU's from and they are hard to complete as well. I seem to recall malariacontrol posting a shutdown notice. Certainly, I was a long time cruncher there, but have removed it from my list of projects, and would not normally do that unless there was a good solid reason. We will try to keep the server open as long as possible afterwards if needed, so all in-progress work units can be finished. Next, the project home page will be replaced by a static site containing the description and results for the applications of the project, and will be updated when we get new results from the scientists. We would like to thank you for your support and dedication for SZDG throughout the years! |

>>> Wonder if they ran out of science or funding ? Only certain kinds of problems are suited to massively parallel computing solutions, so it might not be either, they may simply have moved on. I'm sure if they get to a point where it again becomes relevent, they will be able to set it up again, in the meantime, they don't need to support, (finance, equipment, personnel), the server and website.
