Hello BOINC Community,

Those of you who support World Community Grid projects are probably aware that we've successfully run a number of environmental projects in the past, such as studies looking for more efficient ways to filter water and new materials for solar energy. Now, IBM is offering free meterological data and cloud storage for climate change and environmental scientists who also need to tap into World Community Grid's computing power for their research.

You can find more information –- and scientists can submit their proposed project ideas -- at https://climate.worldcommunitygrid.org (note the deadline for the first round of applications is 15 Sept). We're interested in projects which help understand the impacts of or develop mitigating strategies for climate change. This may include understanding impacts of climate change on water resources and natural resource preservation, tracking and predicting migration patterns based on changing weather conditions, developing models to analyze and improve crop or livestock resilience and yields in regions with extreme weather conditions, and more.

Please feel free to contact us with questions or post them in our forum at https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,40144

Many thanks,
Juan Hindo
