Chinese Buyer Told World’s Most Expensive Scotch Dram Was Fake Zhang Wei, a 36-year-old author of fantasy novels from Beijing, paid just under 10,000 Swiss francs ($10,500) for a dram from the bottle at a hotel in St. Moritz, Switzerland https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-11-03/chinese-buyer-told-world-s-most-expensive-scotch-dram-was-fake |

I know I have asked this before, but please, can we not post links, images etc. to commercial outings? (No commercial advertisements.) |

Dear Chris, if you want to complain about me to David, do so and stop threatening me about it. That's getting quite old. Since you so nicely copied part of my post, you'll notice I did not put a link to any Suzuki page in my mentioning of that crap car. I did not post a picture of it. Since lots of images can be seen as direct commercial outings, I asked that we keep those to a minimum, preferably not shown at all. If you want to mention your brand whisky or whiskey, go ahead. That to me is the same as mentioning your computer's innards, from CPU, motherboard to GPU etc. Edit: I also see you used a direct link to the image, which may hold copyright. I will now have to ask David what to do about that, considering that Eric K. @Seti has had to delete copyrighted images in a user's post of three years back, after a couple of lawyers summoned him to do so, or pay up for copyright infringement. I do feel we need a more stringent rule book for this. |

There is no difference between you and me, Chris. I don't post images or links to commercial outings where possible. If something needs an image, I do research if the image is copyrighted, and will always try to copy it to another place (like imgur) before linking from there. A picture speaks a thousand words. If driving down the freeway at speed, and on the side of the road you see a big image of a car, or you see a sign showing 17 sentences, what registers easier? The picture of course. Same here. And now we are not allowed to mention Intel, Dell, or Nvidia eitherWhere did I say that? I know my English can be not what you are used to at times, but I never said anything like that. Quite the opposite even: If you want to mention your brand whisky or whiskey, go ahead. That to me is the same as mentioning your computer's innards, from CPU, motherboard to GPU etc. In any case, here's what I wrote to David a moment ago: Hi David, |

Yes, I heard Eric say that too - and it was Eric Korpela, the image was on the SETI@Home forum, and that dealing with the lawyers wasted time he didn't have. He didn't say who had posted the image, though. |

Speaking of hotlinks and Seti, perhaps the issue has been resolved considering the vast number of such images of cartoons being posted over in Seti. |

No not you Anniet, I was one of those caught up in that. It revolved around a St Patrick's day image that the owner took issue with. I believe Matt popped into the thread to let us all know why he hid the posts & to use common sense when providing images & links. He didn't say who had posted the image, though.Oh my :/ I hope it wasn't me :\ I was a bit new three years ago... As for conspiracies, the biggest on the Internet is Seti@Home itself. Several posters felt they were senior enough to run the boards & did their best to marginalise those who disagreed with them. It didn't work as they themselves have now been marginalised - & they don't like it, hence the scream to shut down all political boards. |

As to the hot linked photos, there was a series of very popular threads called count to #### and you posted a photo with the next number in it. Obviously some found a site rich with photos of numbered things. The owner of the site didn't know how to configure his .htaccess file to kill the hotlinks, so he ran to a lawyer instead or a web programmer. He would have lost, but it would have cost $$ to defend, $$ seti doesn't have. There may have been other instances. |

Just finished watching a pretty good documentary "Pearl Harbor The New Evidence" on Channel 4. Totally laughable that the thought that Roosevelt & Churchill conspired to get the US into the war, when in fact it was the total secrecy regarding "Magic" & the ineptitude of the US military high command & politicians. The biggest blunder ever by the Americans was the fact that all their Senior Commanders were not on the Magic list. For me though, the biggest laugh was watching Admiral Stark at the Congressional Hearing in 1945 "I don't recall" "I don't remember" As for the "so-called" transcription of "that" phone call between Roosevelt & Churchill - it proved to be fake :-) |

Traditionally Japan bombed Pearl Harbour to destroy the American fleet, and prevent America from interfering in the Japanese invasion in Asia.Strange word to use for a treacherous attack. Or do you have evidence that Japan attacked the US on such a regular occurrence that it became a tradition? |

Others quote the increase in hurricanes That's explained by a certain instillation situated in Gakcona Alaska if you believe certain theories on certain website ( yes give links without to much hassle , Chris knows where A.T.S ;-) ) also there might of been a similar setup on Orford Island but officaialy that was O.T.H.R not H.A.A.R.P, that takes us to the " Russian Woodpecker " and Chernobyl . Funny how things " tie in " |

Richard was approx 30 minutes behind me :-)I thought I watched it live and posted at the end, you caught up on iPlayer. Ahead :P Just been listening to daytime TV, which had a marvellous jump-cut from an analysis of BrightHouse's business methods to a live speech by Theresa May at the CBI - again extolling the free market as the best possible political system. That's "free" as in free to rip off the poor, free to declare profits overseas, free to relocate manufacturing in China, free to clad poor people's housing in fire accelerants. If she'd made that speech in Parliament, it would have been worth at least another 100,000 votes for Jeremy Corbyn, I reckon. It made no sense to anyone outside her own gilded ivory tower. |
