I've been running BOINC for about 8 years, doing the WCG stuff - lots of hours, about 28 million points, so that shows I know how to do this - that is, set up an account and get projects. I added climateprediction.net to my projects. But I'm unable to get climateprediction.net to start - I'm signed up, I've set the preferences, etc. I've allowed it thru my firewall, turned off anything that would block it. What's more, when I'm on the website, every time I click on a link it times out - the discussion boards, help, contact us, absolutely nothing works "This site can't be reached" - and so I can't get anywhere to find out anything. So I'm trying here to see if someone can guide me in the right direction. I was surprised to learn I didn't have an account after all these years because I have participated in discussion board, and I assumed that dl BOINC and running it for years meant I had an account, but I could be conflating a BOINC account with my WCG account. All of this stuff confuses me anyway - I've found the instructions and FAQs to be of little help, and only the discussion boards have helped. So since I cannot access the boards at climateprediction.net, here I am! Many thanks. |

Strange that everything times out. I haven't heard of that before. Although the web site has been slow lately. You did sign up years ago: William LeGro - 18 Feb 2011, 2:03:31 UTC You even have a small amount of credit from back then. And your two latest computers last contacted the project on 22 Jan 2017 However they're Macs, and the project doesn't always have work for these. (Or for any OS lately, but that should improve in the coming weeks.) |

As I just sent to the CPDN moderators email list: What is the project URL to use?The latter link holds the forums. My BOINC has no problem contacting the project using the 'normal' link, which according to its account_*xml file is http://climateprediction.net, but I am confused as well. |
