well, I am a bit angry about the confirmation of DeVos. My son is in public schools. Maybe it's time to consider alternatives. And you thought immigration was bad before they took away education. Now the only employees will be foreign born and taught. Make America on Welfare! |

Love this comment! "I think its telling of British peoples anathema of the EU that a lot of us are actively supporting far right party's in France & Holland so our divorce can happen quickly and cleanly. We have to rely on foreign nationalist party's to stand against EU oppression because we are not sure all our MPs have the stomach for it. So have weak liberals aided the rise of the right? Ironic isn't it? " "Deal or no deal" I'll have box 13 Noel |

They've set out to steal the US, and through money and politics they've succeeded. Oligarch RINOs. I weep for us, I weep for our children. It's not just the US :-( Received a letter from my bank last week. Been with them 35 years this year. For a good few years, it remained a small building society until greed took over. There was a rash of building societies being bought out by banks or merging. Mine merged with the Norwich Union & except for providing new products & rebranding, banking continued. It was again taken over by the Yorkshire Building Society in 2011 but banking continued as normal, until now. The YBS are returning to the original idea of building societies - Mortgages & savings only & are closing all current accounts & that will be completed by 31/8/17 with numerous small branches here closed. The rebranding will be completed by 2018. The letter goes on to say that if one has a current account they will write to each one closer to the time to inform one on what to do next. I have 2 accounts personal & business. Looked into the YBS & seen they have no alternatives so looked elsewhere. Popped into a bank on Friday with that letter & copies of my bank statements. 30 minutes later, 2 new accounts opened. Spent Friday afternoon contacting all companies having direct debits with (all for this month already paid out). Saturday morning called into my bank & closed both accounts. This is what I got told: "Now no need to be too hasty Mr B" DOH! |

Let's not forget Trump: militant attacks 'all over Europe,' some not reported. Where would we be without this saviour in the White House! And of course the famous list of attacks, most of which we have never heard of, including Paris and San Bernadino [sic]. |

"Mia Ayliffe-Chung, 20, who was killed at a hostel in Queensland in August, did not die as a result of terrorism, police have said." Just as accurate as anything Rump has ever done. Just surprised his towers don't fall over! |

For a good few years, it remained a small building society until greed took over.Yes, I got my business account with National Girobank (biggest branch network in the country - every village post office, including the little shop at the bottom of my street) purchased from under me, first by Alliance and Leicester, and then again by Santander. They're closed now - both my account, and the village shop. But the mass take-over of mutual building societies wasn't initiated by the banks. First, there was an active movement by so-called 'carpetbaggers', who moved from society to society, putting up 'demutualisation' resolutions at annual meetings and urging members to 'release their locked-in capital': most members were allotted shares and promptly sold them for a once-off windfall of around £1,000. It was only after these shares became tradeable on the open market (and were naturally scooped up by bigger competitors) that the rash of mergers started. There's an extremely close correlation between the list of former mutual building societies and the list of banks which failed in 2007/08/09 - starting with Northern Rock. I wonder why we don't hear anything from the carpetbaggers any longer? I was lucky enough to already have a personal account with the Nationwide, which has remained resolutely mutual throughout the crises, and continues to provide a current account service with full banking facilities. |

On Air Force One, before a smaller audience, Trump spokesman Sean Spicer said Trump did not really mean that terrorist attacks received no coverage. Trump's actual complaint, he said, was that such acts don't get enough attention. In your near future, I foresee the start of TNC, Trump's News Channel, where only the real news (*) is brought to you immediately, uncensored, 24 hours a day. With a searchable database. (*) Of course only news vetted by the President himself and if he's not available, by his second in command. Fake news, non-fake news, old news, rewritten news, Russian spun news, you know, the news you don't really want. Fox news. ;-) |

And while we're talking about fake news: Melania Trump's Daily Mail refiled lawsuit US First Lady Melania Trump has re-filed a libel lawsuit against the Mail Online's publisher, Mail Media Inc, for reporting on rumours she worked as an escort. Ms Trump filed the previous lawsuit against Mail Media Inc after it ran a story citing a Slovenian magazine's report that a modelling agency she worked with in New York in the 1990s also served as an escort business, linking wealthy clients with women for sexual services. The Mail Online has since retracted the story, which it headlined: “Naked photoshoots, and troubling questions about visas that won’t go away: The VERY racy past of Donald Trump’s Slovenian wife." The posting said it “did not intend to state or suggest that these allegations are true, nor did it intend to state or suggest that Mrs. Trump ever worked as an 'escort' or in the 'sex business.'” The lawsuit, now filed in New York, where the corporation has offices, seeks compensatory and punitive damages of at least $150m (£121m). So, is she feeling she needs a bit of hand-money because she earns nowt as the First Lady? |
