Installed "boinc_7.6.33_windows_x86_64.exe" over 7.6.2.2 installation.
During installation it asks to browse to find BOINC.exe
I helped it find it in C:\Users\MyUsername\AppData\Local\Temp\{59EDB6A3-BC03-4435-A5BB-57C41D0E10B7}\
it gave some error and quit. Then I couldn't even run the old version as it had deleted boincmgr.exe

I downloaded it again. Same problem. Ran it as Administrator, same problem. Gave up on updating it.
Reinstalled 7.6.22 and it works, not updating until this gets fixed.

Which will have fixed the problem. The problem was that Windows forgot where it installed the program. This has been a long standing problem for quite some years, that can be fixed in various ways including your method of reinstalling the version you already had. Another option not yet in the FAQ and especially on Windows 10 is to use the Microsoft Fix-It Program: Follow these steps to automatically repair issues including corrupted registry keys that block you from installing or removing programs

There's is something weird on this forum !

I have recently installed 7.6.33 on a Win10 Pro machine and after running for a while get a message that my password is invalid. BOINC then shuts down the work units from the projects that I am running and deletes the data from the tasks page (doesn't delete the projects or any work done). Shutting down and restarting brings the tasks back. Have re-installed 7.6.22.

7.6.33 was released for testing on June and only now promoted to recommended status.

Ok I get it, I was misinformed by the version date shown on the "all versions" page :)

Then i'll be thinking about installing it on my mac.

Temporary fix from Boinc Manager (advanced view), File Tab, Select Computer, & click on local host (or the name of your computer).
Noticed a couple of headless VM beta tasks (ALICE) had failed after the last blank-out. Nothing in the Windows log files.
