No mystery, just bad reporting. "The Guardian says it has seen 3D images, showing large holes in the seabed He said he could not believe his eyes when the sonar images came in, showing only a groove where his father's ship had been." The seabed is not static. Quakes do hit as witnessed by New Zealand. |

The notion that the moon landings were faked is still the most fascinating conspiracy theory to me. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

*charge straight off topic - sort of* One of my favourite films was Capricorn One which as I recall was about a faked Mars ??? landing. I was about 9 or 10 when I saw it so I could be wrong. |

The Titanic conspiracy theory was an interesting one. If I remember correctly, it was alleged it was her sister ship that sank, and that it was an insurance scam, that went a bit wrong because the ship that was meant to be lurking about waiting to pick up passengers, was in the wrong place, so didn't. I doubt any of it's true, but it's the kind of thing that happens to some of my plans, which is why it interested me. |

It's just pompous bureaucrats rattling their cage. With the disappearance of MH370 & the massive coverage of that area, the salvage of those ships would have taken a considerable amount of time. Long enough to have been noticed. This is just a case of reporting for reporting's sake. |

I'm not sure if the search for MH370 is that relevant. The vessels referred to went down in the Battle of the Java Sea in 1942. The search for MH370 has mainly been in the Southern Indian Ocean SW of Australia. I would agree though that Indonesia has a fair amount of air and sea traffic. That whole area is contentious, so it is more than likely that numerous parties are keeping a watchful eye on matters. MH370 just gave a genuine excuse to up the game so to speak. But we are straying somewhat into political territory here. An area that we said we were happy to get rid of from the forums. Fair point even though that was not my aim, which does beg a question from you... ..What has FIFA got to do with the R.I.P. thread? |

@Annie - I hadn't heard that particular rumour about the Titanic. I don't think it was a rumour at the time. It was after the wreck was found and photographed that there was speculation. The ship sank because it hit an iceberg at 22 knots in the dark, because of minimal lookout systems. The watertight compartment bulkheads didn't go all the way up to the deck, As the ship went bow down the water cascaded from one compartment to another hastening the sinking. The loss of life was due to not enough lifeboats, which at the time was not a board of trade requirement. None of that was disputed. Just which ship it was that did it. Whichever it was... it wasn't unsinkable was it... * In addition to that there is the plain ridiculous. In the 21C with mankind able to put a robot on Mars, drive it around, and get pictures back, there is still a Flat Earth Society I kid you not! Next time we meet, remind me to demonstrate to you how my friend (very intelligent in almost 99 percent of situations) can convincingly convince you that the earth is in fact...flat. It lasts for at least a few seconds :) edit: * a smiley didn't seem appropriate somehow |

I forgot to talk about that hole at the north pole. The ice is getting less reflective because of industrial activities elsewhere. Doesn't make it a hole even if they think it looks like one. Take today for example. I bought a tin of tuna fish this morning. I expressly checked that it was tuna, not tuna and mayonnaise too. When I went to open it, I saw it was tuna and mayonnaise :/ so I popped back to the shop to ask if I could exchange it with a plain tin of tuna and found out it already was one. I think I imprinted the wrong label on it. That's what they've done. These are people who at some point, unexpectedly fell down a hole they didn't know was there and thought the earth was hollow until they noticed it wasn't... which, as all good scientists know, would have only been verified for that one point they splatted on. As so few people have had the opportunity to fall over at the north pole, speculation is bound to abound. |

I haven't heard that about Paul McCartney, but my favorite musical riddle is how Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon follows the storyline of The Wizard of Oz. They say they didn't plan that, but it sure does have some uncanny coincidences. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

And the last I saw. Kennedy's brain disappeared just after or during the autopsy. Just like the shooter on the hill. |

All the while there are people that want to read it, they'll print it! And leaders of the free world who believe it and have their country's act as if it is true. ![]() |

And leaders of the free world who believe it and have their country's act as if it is true. That of course is the other side of the equation, and is also a tad worrying, I have to agree. Fixed your link. ;-) ![]() |

What's with the inmate number? Why's that ? only reason you woudn't is if you're a " rule 45 " and very much doubt you're one of those low lifes ( very polite way for me to put it there ;-) ) , |
