I have been told at BOINCstats that the change in CPID when email addresses are changed is a BOINC problem, not a BOINCstats problem. Is this true? If so, what can be done about it? I just went through this problem myself. For some reason, I chose to use my work email address for registration at BOINC, WCG and BOINCstats. I recently retired. I thought that I would need to give up my work email, so I changed all of my registrations in the projects and at BOINCstats. I lost most of my credits for about two weeks. Then, my former employer allowed me to keep my email address, so I reverted back all of the projects and BOINCstats. Now everything is fine. BOINCstats is a service which is very very important to many crunchers. Many people have experienced this problem. If BOINC is responsible, then we all need something to be done to correct this situation. Thanks. http://sciencesprings.wordpress.com http://facebook.com/sciencesprings |

User CPID is based on the user's email address. If you want CPID to remain the same when you change your email address you need to come up with some other way to tie user accounts over various projects together without revealing the user's email address. |

Now we are going around in circles. It would be helpful if something were found to replace email addresses as the constant identifier for BOINC and BOINCstats. http://sciencesprings.wordpress.com http://facebook.com/sciencesprings |

Like what? User names aren't unique whereas email addresses are. There is nothing else that's unique when you register an account. You also have to consider security. Also; I lost most of my credits for about two weeks. That's an untrue statement, because you got reunited with your credits in the end, they don't go lost. Perhaps read on why the developers chose this format: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/CrossProjectUserId |

mitrichr does not have an active client, so CPIDs dont align very well, hence his 2 dozen projects got split over 2 groups with same user name. After he reverted back to his old mail account, the previous CPID just took effect again and caused things to roll up again. Coelum Non Animum Mutant, Qui Trans Mare Currunt |

Sekerob is correct, I am no longer a cruncher, forced out by OCD and overheated cpu's. But my passion for the BOINC process rages on. I try to support any BOINC or WCG project with news in social media on my blog. Jord-nice to hear from you again. You were always a big help to me. I will look at the link you sent me.
