Hi, I run Nero's Backitup each night automatically but it takes several hopurs (before failing) because BOINC does not reduce its cpu usage time. I thought BOINC was supposed to run only as free cpu time permitted? Can anybody help, please? Thanks, David |

Not BOINC, but the science applications are to do so. They are programmed to run at a priority lower than Low (lowest option in Windows, but the actual priority is even lower). You don't say which BOINC version you use, nor which project(s) this is with though. So for the next time, manually suspend BOINC until the other thing is done, then put BOINC back on "run based on preferences". |

Thanks Jord, That is the method I use when the backups are during the day instead of 4am (as some have to be). I am running BOINC on several computers, all version 5.4.9 The backups have difficulty with are on those computers that include Climate Prediction (not the BBC version). My BOINC priority is set to its lowest. Many thanks, David |

Thanks Jord, It's not a good idea to try to backup the Boinc folders while it's running. It needs to constantly write to disk so it's data files are always changing while it is crunching. The only suggestion I have is to set your preferences to suspend Boinc for the time you expect the Backup to run. Boinc V 7.4.36 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB NVidia 470 |
