Hello. Have Asrock Fatal1ty Killer motherboard with 2 PCI-e slots. A8-6500 APU / 2*8GB RAM 1600 MHz PCI-e 3.0 -- GTX 760 192 bit -- is computing OK On second PCI-e 2.0 want to install: Quadro FX3700 -- http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Quadro+FX+3700 Use Ubuntu 15.10. Any problems that can be, before I buy this FX3700 ? Does not mach with the other one or is too week for computation ? Thanks. |

Any problems that can be, before I buy this FX3700 ? As always cooling can be a problem, but it supports CUDA and i am sure i have seen it working elsewhere. You will need to change a setting to allow both GPUs to run. See BOINC Client_configurationespecially the <use_all_gpus> flag. |

Wikipedia says the chip is the same as in GeForce 8800. Before buying make sure there is a driver that support both that and your newer card and your distribution. If you are planning on using both cards on same project you can expect bad runtime estimates. I think Quadro is much slower. Getting the most out of the GTX 760 may require running more than one task concurrently but if the Quadro has only 512 MB of memory then that's enough for only one task at a time. Again a problem if you want to use both cards on same project. |

Well, i've bought FX 3700. Problems ... problems ... http://storage6.static.itmages.com/i/16/0417/h_1460884631_8094452_1726b7bcf2.png http://storage8.static.itmages.com/i/16/0417/h_1460884661_6738358_293877f55d.png http://storage9.static.itmages.com/i/16/0417/h_1460884690_4807589_922debdaf0.png http://storage1.static.itmages.com/i/16/0417/h_1460884713_7656440_9b1d0dc019.png http://storage3.static.itmages.com/i/16/0417/h_1460884739_1956920_ec664ce4b8.png It can't set both nvidia on nvidia drivers. One is always on nouveau. Please help... realy don't know what to do. I have no ideea. |

There is no app_info.xml. I searched and is nowhere. |

There is no app_info.xml. I searched and is nowhere. app_info.xml is an optional file you can create yourself to explain to BOINC how to run your application if the project you wish to compute for doesn't have a ready-made application for your operating system. It's unlikely to be relevant here. Agentb was referring you to cc_config.xml, which is also an optional file which you create yourself if you need it. I'm afraid I can't help with Linux drivers. |

Belive it will take me 3 days to figure out how to create app_info.xml Does any one have this xml ? and cc_config ? maybe to make 2-3 modifications. Please !! GPU computing is not working for now, on my pc. |

Driver 340.96 it can be used on both cards. Can somehow force to use this driver both video cards ? |

App_info.xml is very complicated, and it is project specific: you would need a different one for each project you run. But it shouldn't be necessary at all. Why are you looking for one? Nobody here suggested it - if it was mentioned on a project message board, continue the conversation there. cc_config.xml is very simple - all you need is <cc_config> <options> <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> </options> </cc_config> |

http://storage2.static.itmages.com/i/16/0417/h_1460889304_1442221_4743d72e9d.png Device 0 device 1 same GFLOPS tasks but different times to completion. It means that it compute on both GPUs ? |

The temperatures are 76 degrees on quadro and 83 on GTX. Belive both are computing, now. |

Thank you Richard, and all Help desk experts. So the problem it's solved with a commoun nvidia driver and cc_config with 'all gpu'. Moo!Wrapper is computing now on 2 NVIDIA GPUs -- one task. Couldn't wach movie 'The americans' only with suspend GPU, because is fleackering, but regarding the fact that soviets from the movie specified didn't sell performance computers and no BOINC i'm pleased with you capitalist americans. |

It seems that a problem still exists. Don't have open_cl for GPUs. Tasks from Milkyway for GPU are aborded automaticly. OpenCL is installed by the videocard drivers, not by BOINC. |
Send message Joined: 20 Nov 12 Posts: 801 |
But detection is done by BOINC client. |

True, the GPU detection is done by the client. But it's not as if the latest client is the only one which can do that. So updating to the latest available doesn't necessarily fix the detection of OpenCL on the GPU, when e.g. the drivers used don't have that built in. You know how to ask Linux to check what drivers are installed, perhaps best begin there? :-) Or is an SDK needed? |

I really should start writing answers longer than just one sentence... I'm guessing the problem here is the missing link from libOpenCL.so to libOpenCL.so.1 . The newer BOINC version is smarter and checks both file names. If you remember you are the one who got David to make that change. That link could be checked and created if it isn't there but I had a feeling that clickety-click with GUI would be easier approach this time. NVIDIA drivers should come with both CUDA and OpenCL components. Of course running clinfo from terminal would tell if the problem is in driver package or BOINC. |
