Better than these were the ones where Bryan Dawe is a headmaster, and John Clarke is a school boy (aka some politician), being questioned about some misdemeanour.

Robert W Taylor, 85

Robert W Taylor, who was instrumental in creating the internet and the modern personal computer, has died at the age of 85.


While working for the Pentagon's Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) in 1966, Mr Taylor shepherded the creation of single computer network APRANET — which evolved into the internet — after becoming frustrated he had to use three separate terminals to communicate with researchers around the country.

Steve Palermo, Umpire Whose Career Was Ended by a Bullet, Dies at 67

Steve Palermo, whose career as a major league baseball umpire ended when he was shot and partly paralyzed in 1991 after intervening in a robbery outside a Dallas restaurant, died on Sunday in Overland Park, Kan. He was 67.

His wife, Debbie, said the cause was complications of lung cancer.

Mr. Palermo was in his 15th season as an American League umpire

Moors Murderer Ian Brady, who tortured and killed five children with Myra Hindley in crimes that shocked the nation, has died.

The 79-year-old died at Ashworth Hospital, a secure psychiatric unit in Merseyside where he had been detained since 1985.

Brady, who was jailed in 1966, buried four of his victims in graves on Saddleworth Moor, Greater Manchester.
