I have Android devices on my network running Boinc. My understanding is that Boinctasks will also manage them if they run NativeBoinc instead of Boinc for Android.

If that is correct would you be able to help me get that up and running? I have tried before and couldn't get it going.

I have been using BoincTasks to keep track of and manage my Desktop PC's & sole Android tablet for a while, but I do not recall how exactly I setup my tablet running Native Boinc.

If my memory serves me (it's been 2+ years since I did it)...

** I RENAMED my Andriod tablet to a easy to remember/friendly name within the NativeBoinc Client configuration page(s) on the tablet.

** EDITED the "RPC Config" and "RPC Password" files (in NativeBoinc)to allow remote access via my local network/Desktop PC's.

** Shut down and restarted NativeBoinc client so it could read the new configuration(s).

Then I could use BoincTasks "computer" search function to find it on my local network and manage it from there.

You can view/download the help files at Efmer's BoincTasks web site > http://efmer.com/b/boinctasks.

Thank you.

Do you have more detail on how I can perform these steps?

I can't see where in the Boinctasks preferences menu I can do this. How do I?

I performed these steps on my Linux pc but don't know how or where to do them on my Android with Boinctasks. Can you elaborate on how you did this or point me to a webpage with more detail on how?

Thank you.

I think the NativeBoinc web page titled Installation http://nativeboinc.org/site/for_users/install has detail steps on what you are looking for.

Once you have made the changes in NativeBoinc you have to find/search for all the BOINC "computer(s)" in BoincTasks >> Menu / Computers / Find Computers / (password is optional I think) / Scan address range / (click/highlight one or more found "computers") and Add selected.

edit: Just my luck... looks like the battery has gone completely dead in my Nexus7/Android tablet while I was away and now it won't power up or take a charge.
Guess it's time for me to search how easy (or hard) and how much it's going to cost to replace the battery.

Thanks for your help.

The installation page shows how to set up a host name or password during the initial install, but not after Native Boinc has been installed. I don't see where there to allow remote access?

I have reinstalled Native Boinc using the initial setup to set up a host name and a password. I have Native Boinc installed on my Android device and when I run BoinTasks "Find Computer" it sees my two PCs, but not the Native Boinc device.

How do I get this working?

Good luck with the battery. I haven't had to replace one yet I can't help with any solid advice regarding it.
