I am posting this here rather than at each project, I have done that previously on other issues and been accused of spamming. The only project running BOINC software that understands the power of social media is World Community Grid. They use Facebook, Twitter, Google+, RSS, and YouTube. Each project, even completed projects, will write very nice articles about their project and post them on each of these tools. If you want to get your message out, you need to use these tools, and not just with little one sentence news items. You need to repeatedly find something to write of an extended nature, graphics if possible, and sing your own praises. That is what World Community grid projects do, and they are constantly growing. I have a blog, http://sciencesprings.wordpress.com. I pick up the articles and take your story out to over 700 non-specialist readers in North America, Europe, East Asia, Africa, and the Middle-East. I am not the only guy out there, you will find others who will spread your word and join up. Only a couple of projects are on Facebook and Twitter, and that is not good. You all can easily fix that. Here is an example of what I can do for your project, if you push out a serious news article. I have collected all of your RSS feeds. https://sciencesprings.wordpress.com/2015/10/06/from-outsmart-ebola-together-at-wcg-finding-new-avenues-to-attack-ebola/ I think that my record as a cruncher is clear. http://sciencesprings.wordpress.com http://facebook.com/sciencesprings |

I see that climateprediction.net understands how to use social media. Here is a post that I did with their material. https://sciencesprings.wordpress.com/2015/10/06/from-climateprediction-net-new-climatology-results-for-western-us-drought-experiment/ http://sciencesprings.wordpress.com http://facebook.com/sciencesprings |

I think that my record as a cruncher is clear. I appreciate your efforts, but your record does raise the question--why did you stop crunching? My Detailed BOINC Stats |

First, severe problems with heat killed three computers, one a $5000.00 Maingear Shift Superstock.Probably I did not throttle enough, thus, the high number of credits. Second, a case of O.C.D. was very severe. I just could never ever leave things alone and be satisfied. So I was told by my family and a shrink that I needed to quit. BUt, as you can see, I still love the process, I have never cut my ties, and I do what I can in the blog to support any BOINC projects that put up material I can use. The best is WCG, where every project has someone who can do articles that go up on Facebook and I think Twitter. These guys at climateprediction know how to get it done. http://sciencesprings.wordpress.com http://facebook.com/sciencesprings |
