Thanks for that. I'll be avoiding London though, probably a marvelous city but not to drive in.
Except in a completely mud-covered Land Rover - preferably 15 years old. You don't care.

Even taxi drivers respect that.

Other half's laptop has self diagnosed problems. Automatic repair failed. I hate working on M$ machines!

Edit: USB stick with Ubuntu finished backing up data to external drive, now doing system restore.

Yep, Land rovers are sturdy as Prince Phillip has just found out. Just glad there were no fatalities. Quite a few parts of the A149 really are rat runs. :-(

These days, most of the time, I save time by cycling rather than driving. - Last drove the A149 regularly for work about 17 years ago.

System restore failed.

Other Half now reduced (promoted) to using Ubuntu18.10 to access her files via USB stick.

Wonder if I can convert her completely to Linux? (Currently making noises about wanting a new laptop with Win10.)

Oh, I don't know, perhaps the plague is preferable to Win10?

Well it has killed my mouse at least 3 times and my ethernet adapter once, I'm in the process of seeing if I can deal with Linux.

Get a MacBook Pro instead! Put LibreOffice on it copy the former Windows Data to it, and be done!

If she does get another machine, I get to put Linux on her old one and I have another machine to crunch on, faster than my ageing ones. (On the rare occasions I manage to break Linux I just do a fresh install and having data on a physically different hard disk so far have never wiped it out by formatting the wrong disk.) Might even get past the ./configure stage of rolling my own BOINC with another machine to play with.

Fresh install of doze10 from usb stick seems to be working with no issues.
Will have to think of some sabotage in order to get machine for myself.

More glory from the upper left coast. The bathroom remodel is done and is quite good. The kitchen remodel is at least 80% done and the contractor says the final cost will come in under his estimate. He works for time plus materials.

Well the poor thing is doomed then...

They might be letting me go home in
a couple of hours! I'll find it easier on
the computer to sort out a bit of a
mix-up I caused in over in politics
then... I only went there out of
boredom. Four days in a row of
handing yourself in to ACU can do
that to you.

Or they might not. What does the rule book say?

Willingly or forcibly? It's not pre-shock of meeting the bearded Dutchman, is it, as then we'll cancel that. :)

More glory on the upper left coast. The kitchen is 95% done and looks real good, the new appliances work and meet my expectations. The contractor is off to a new job next week and he'll be back next Sat. to finish up. I know he will show because I owe him a bit more money, besides I trust him.

And Glory for an ageing Aspire One netbook that I am passing on. (some of the recent CPDN work would be crunching for over a year!) Hasn't been used for about a year and update to Lubuntu18.04 went smoothly with minimum intervention from myself. I particularly like that the only reboot is right at the end!
