How did I get tagged as a help desk expert and volunteer tester? I don't remember for signing up to that. The 'Volunteer tester' came from running SETI Beta. 'Help desk expert' came from being helpful to several people here with technical questions. TL Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos Pluto is still a planet |

How did I get tagged as a help desk expert and volunteer tester? I don't remember for signing up to that. Well I've never run Beta at Seti, but I have run test apps with E@H and I have answered several questions and made a few suggestions with E@H. OBTW I"m not an expert just a fan of DC. |

I was sitting here looking in to see what wild guesses people came up with, very funny all. But no. All of the titles are set by me. Including the volunteer tester. It's at Seti that you get the VT title if you run Beta with the same email address as main, but we aren't Seti, we're BOINC. I set VT when I notice you email the BOINC Alpha email list with remarks about Alpha BOINC, or when you post on the forums about an Alpha or Beta BOINC. Help desk expert is when you're quite helpful towards others with your knowledge about BOINC. When you don't stray much outside the Lounge or when you keep spouting complete nonsense about BOINC, you'll never get such titles. And if you don't like the title, and post about that, I'll remove them. |

Jord, It doesn't bother me I just found it humorous. As always keep your social distance and wash your hands. |

What exactly would you like to see them do?Stop eating meat. :-) Yip, that would certainly help. I'm not a vegetarian for normal reasons. I really don't care about the lives of dumb animals like cows (even cats and dogs, my neighbours have those as pets and they're thick as pig shit), but the mere thought of eating a dead animal makes me want to puke. How can people consider that food? |

I was sitting here looking in to see what wild guesses people came up with, very funny all. But no. But I thought you were one of the lower echelon? I remember the other admins arguing with you over something a month ago.... You even removed your own tags for a short time. but we aren't Seti, we're BOINC. Nein nein nein, we are Borg. When you don't stray much outside the Lounge or when you keep spouting complete nonsense about BOINC, you'll never get such titles. So the chances of you ever giving it to me would be..... |

Glory, I hope. I finally bit the bullet and ordered an ASUS GeForce GTX 1660 Super Overclocked 6GB Dual-fan EVO Edition VR Ready HDMI DisplayPort DVI Graphics Card ... The plan is to move a GTX1060 3GB to be a 2nd GTX1060 3GB in another box and put this into my daily driver. The money I'm not able to spend at happy hour in the neighbor hood pub might as well increase my Einstein production, |

If I'm correct, that thing is slower than my R9 280X cards, for double the price. Did you quote the wrong model number? |

You have made the right decision. Some people need to get a hobby and stop moaning all the time. Like my next door neighbour :-) |

Grumble: Over half an hour to download Focal Fossa updates. Waiting to see if final result is Glory. Edit: I noticed it unpacking boinc-client so presumably I won't be running the one I rolled myself once it gets to re-boot. |

GTX 1660? If I'm correct, that thing is slower than my R9 280X cards, for double the price. Did you quote the wrong model number? Price is important but it is not not everything and having Cuda is mandatory for some projects which I also support. |

My grumble (which is the title of this thread) is that some projects require CUDA. They don't get my support. I'm not going to buy more expensive cards just to keep them happy, they should code an OpenCL version. I support the projects that make the effort. I also detest proprietary things, like Nvidia have done. |

Distributed Computing. What you do on your GPU. |

Distributed Computing. What you do on your GPU. Oh, I suck at acronyms. Mainly because any combination of letters can mean about 50 different things, have a look on acronym finder for your favourite one. Somebody just said EPA, which I thought was the English Pool Association. Apparently it's something to do with the environment. Unless you're a bloody slow typer, it's best to just write things out in full. |

Peter isn't DC wonderful it has room for many viewpoints including yours. Indeed, and we can "vote" by adjusting the weight of projects :-) But I sense you actually meant "your viewpoint is totally bloody crazy and you're a complete and utter fool for believing it" (possibly with ruder words). But I can't see why anyone would think proprietary things are good. Compatibility is always good. |
