Yesterday I told the good girlfriend that I wanted some rest, her out of my mind, and that I was going a bit silent. But not to worry, I would be back when I felt better.

That was the wrong thing to say. After a handful of dirty WhatsApp messages from her, in which she called me all the dirty names she could think of, she switched to calling me. In which she called me further dirty names.

This culminated into a big fight in which she told me she was now definitely going to block me, it was over, who did I think I was, I was going to regret this, etc.
Then her cousin, who still lives with her, took the phone and told me to leave his woman alone - exactly the thing I wanted that started off this whole circus.

I put my camera up to monitor my car, although scheduled recordings didn't seem to work, so I forced recordings to my phone. You don't know what she's going to do in her anger in the middle of the night.

But no, she apparently tried to call me a couple of times and sent me messages via WhatsApp that she then deleted again. I had my ringtone volume turned off, so never noticed. Slept all night.

This is going to be continued, I have no doubt. The thing is, I won't block her or anything else so low. She hasn't done so yet either. I'm still helping out her mom this weekend - which I know complicates things enormously. But I don't have a fight with her, I just wanted a week of silence. Is that so difficult?

🙄😒😏

Grumble:
Why do so many post the same question in the same thread on fora when the question has been answered a dozen times or more?

And don't get me started on those who pm the moderators with the same question!

...or those PM "random strangers" with that self same question (all in the hope of getting the answer they want, not the one that will fix their problem)

You missed one:
People who post a question, when the post that they're writing above already answered their question.

They register specifically on the boards, ignore the request not to PM me with tech questions and ask their tech questions. They all get the same answer from me, to post in the forums and then I delete their PM. Only a handful post on the boards after that. So apparently the problem of the others wasn't that stringent then. :)

And on the same theme, those that insist on continuing conversations in the wrong section.

Will someone tell us in the other thread, if we have a solution?

The answer was already there.

Arrive home, computer cold. Make that computers cold some items including router have no power. Very strange, everything is on a UPS. Uh Oh! UPS is off. Note that two other UPS powering other computers are on.
Crawl under desk push power button. Turns on, but display has funny stuff. Try the test button, it shuts off. Turn it back on, get glasses, Ut Oh it is a fault symbol.
Resign self to an hour being wasted.
---- ***** this is the UPS I replaced the battery in only a couple months ago ***** -----
Unplug everything and drag it up on top of the desk. Curse. Get Phillips screwdriver. Open battery compartment. Slide battery out. Yes still connected.
Remember I bought two batteries a couple months back because I have two of this model and I hadn't gotten around to replacing the other battery yet as it still seems good. (I bought them together and first round they failed together)
Change to the other new battery.
Plug it back in. Turn it on. Still has fault. Try the test button. It completes the self test and the fault light goes out!
Plug the power strips back in. Stuff mostly comes back alive.
WHAT?! The 8 port gig switch has a power light but none of the link lights are on!
Remember it did that a couple of months ago too. Actually bought a replacement unit, but by the time I had it home the old one was working.
Decide it is time to replace it. Back under the desk. Find the wall wart, the right wall wart and unplug. Put the new one in - yes power light.
Now to move the RJ45's. Dang there are times I hate the ones with the protectors over the tabs. Especially when the connector it plugs into is slightly recessed!
Eventually with only minimal cursing they are all over in the new switch. Pretty link lights on all of them and even have the gig lights on all the items.

Realize the DHCP lease for my external IP will have been hit. When I get to the office, I'll have a bunch of stored IP numbers to change. Not the end of the world.

Is it really that difficult to have the roving mike hooked up to a live feed as well as the speaker's mike.

Glory: I've moved out west, to Denver. There's S - P - A - C - E - room to move, room for the (far fewer) people to leave gaps.

Grumble: It's raining. Proper thunderstorm, right over the city.
